Job TitleSenior Associate, Systems Engineer - AftermarketPosition SummaryAcron Aviation is seeking a Systems Engineer to support aftermarket engineering activities across our avionics portfolio, including Surveillance Systems, Flight Recorders, and Electronic Flight Displays. This role serves as a key technical resource supporting both Engineering and Repair & Overhaul (R&O) operations by maintaining and enhancing automated test systems, repair stations, and driving product sustainment initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with repair technicians, test engineers, manufacturing engineering, and product line leaders to improve troubleshooting effectiveness, reduce turnaround time, increase first-pass yield, and ensure the long-term supportability of deployed avionics products.
Key Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day engineering support to Repair & Overhaul teams across multiple avionics product families.
- Investigate product failures and support root cause analysis on customer-returned units.
- Develop troubleshooting methodologies and diagnostic procedures to improve repair efficiency.
- Support disposition of non-conforming hardware and complex repair scenarios.
- Work directly with technicians to resolve recurring failure modes and improve repair processes.
- Recommend corrective actions to improve product reliability, maintainability, and repairability.
- Support Engineering Investigations (EIs), FRACAS activities, and reliability improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain "golden unit" test strategies and reference configurations where appropriate.
- Evaluate component obsolescence impacts on test equipment and repair capability.
Sustaining Engineering- Support product lifecycle management activities for legacy and active avionics products.
- Assist in evaluating redesigns, retrofit opportunities, and alternate component solutions.
- Support engineering verification testing associated with ECRs, ECOs, and product modifications.
- Perform technical assessments supporting customer service requests and field issues.
- Collaborate with Product Line Leadership to identify opportunities for improving supportability and reducing lifecycle costs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration- Partner with Systems, Hardware, Software, Manufacturing, Quality, and Customer Support organizations.
- Support FAA Part 145 Repair Station activities and regulatory compliance requirements where applicable.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on quality, turnaround time, throughput, and test efficiency.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
- Minimum of 2 years of prior related experience or Graduate Degree and 0 - 2 years of prior related experience.
- Experience writing system requirements and validation procedures
- Experience with system test development and execution
- Knowledge of ARP-4754A and DO-178 processes
