Overview

Rapiscan is seeking a Systems Engineer with experience in electronics, computing, and imaging systems, including system assembly, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and support. This role contributes to the development, validation, and deployment of innovative optical inspection and imaging solutions by working closely with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, software, and operations. The ideal candidate brings strong systems-level thinking, hands-on technical ability, and a collaborative approach to solving complex integration and performance challenges. Candidates must be available to work on-site in Newtown, PA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide remote and field technical support to production and commissioning teams for system configuration, hardware implementation, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Support the development, integration, and validation of computer vision and imaging-based systems.
  • Collaborate with research and development teams to design, build, and evaluate rapid prototypes and new system features.
  • Develop and execute end-to-end system tests to verify hardware and software quality, functionality, reliability, and performance.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including electrical and mechanical drawing packages, configuration records, and revision control within systems such as AGILE.
  • Assist with the transfer of designs from development into production and support issue resolution during manufacturing and deployment.
  • Contribute to project coordination activities, including technical tracking, status updates, and cross-functional follow-up.
  • Support implementation of cybersecurity standards and secure engineering practices in deployed systems.
  • Occasional travel to site support or off-site meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, physics, or another relevant technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, including integration of hardware and software systems.
  • Experience with system testing, troubleshooting, validation, and technical problem-solving.
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity hardening practices, including STIG standards a plus.
  • Experience using AI-based tools to improve test automation, workflow efficiency, or engineering productivity a plus.
  • Familiarity Linux systems a plus
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer locations within the United States and internationally, as needed.
  • Due to the nature of the work performed for U.S. Government customers, U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency is required.

Pay may range $115,000 to $120,000 annually

The pay range above represents annual base salary only. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job-related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations.

Base salary is one component of your total rewards package. You may be eligible for long-term incentives, potential discretionary bonuses, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discounted rate through the Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP).
