SUMMARY

The System Analyst II will lead the management and maintenance of key data center and network infrastructure to ensure successful realization of operational targets. As someone who has spent several years managing a Windows based environment and network infrastructure, cloud IAAS, the incumbent will understand how to assess technological risk, develop and propose a plan to move the organization forward.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Centre and Network Infrastructure
  • Design, install, monitor, maintain and support of all production and non-production data centre and network infrastructure.
  • Plan and perform server OS and application upgrades, bug fixes, patches, backups, restores, and management of all data centre and network infrastructure.
  • Develop new system and application implementation plans, risk assessments, contingency plans, and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.
  • Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of key production assets to support a 24x7 organization operating across multiple time zones.
  • Oversee administration of identity and access management to IT infrastructure and privileged information stores (file shares, SharePoint, Applications).
  • Setup and Maintain Linux servers, including but not limited to RHEL Linux, Oracle Linux, and Rocky Linux.

Support Desk
  • Provide after-hours support for Infrastructure related emergencies as well as occasional weekend maintenance.
  • Serve as the Tier 2/3 escalation point for helpdesk issues supporting global locations and coordinating with 3rd party partners as required.
  • Participate in the organization's disaster recovery plan (DRP) by developing, documenting, maintaining, and regularly testing procedures to recover key production assets.
  • Handles escalation of problems forwarded by team members by direction/mentoring or by resolution.
  • Configure, help monitor and respond to incidents from our IT system monitoring tools including security event management.

Improvement Recommendations and Best Practice
  • Actively participate in developing and implementing strategies to innovate, improve efficiency and effectiveness of IT processes and solutions and adherence to best practices.
  • Functional lead for all major IT.
  • Maintain qualifications and continuous learning relevant to your role.
  • Identifies solutions to meet and continuously improve system performance and uptime. Recommends enhancements to meet new or changing system demands.
  • Ensures server security compliance conforms to and/or exceeds industry best practices.
  • Identify user experience pain points and challenges and make recommendations process/system functionality improvements.
  • Ensure knowledge-transfer is achieved by mentoring and training Systems Analyst I.
  • Utilize technical skills to assist the team with Cloud infrastructure, Azure network and infrastructure work.
  • Actively looks for opportunities to improve system and application efficiencies.
  • Leads, evaluates, determines, develops, design and actively looks for opportunities to improve and/or implement system/application efficiencies.

Documentation and Audit
  • Reviews system audit logs, documents and action events as required.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure systems comply with policy and regulatory security and privacy requirements.
  • Ensure knowledge base, systems and process documentation, user guides, configuration documentation and instructional manuals are maintained by the IT team.
  • Develops and maintains system-related documentation to facilitate implementation and/or adoption of system changes.
  • Track projects and system incidents through to resolution via the IT ticket tracking system and the various IT Logs.

System Maintenance
  • Determines the setup, configuration and maintenance required for new and/or upgraded servers/systems/applications according to industry best practices and/or standards, and where necessary, establish database connectivity.
  • Performs ongoing system maintenance of servers including general server cleanup and system monitoring to ensure that sufficient disk space and memory exist to meet day-to-day needs of each office.
  • Perform other duties as required.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • 7 to 10 years progressive Infrastructure admin experience; 3 to 5 years or more, with server/storage administration, analysis, or engineering.
  • Post-Secondary education in IT or related discipline.
  • AWS, Microsoft Azure, and VMware certifications preferred.
  • Experience with Linux servers in virtualized environments.
  • Experience with mid to large size server operations in the cloud and on premise, including daily operations and maintenance as well as project-based work such as migrations, upgrades etc.
  • Experience in automation, patching, installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting and managing server environments.
  • Proficient with Windows Server including Microsoft server products such as Active Directory with multiple domain and forests, Exchange, Certificate Services, Federation Services, System Center, IIS, SQL Server.
  • Working experience with configuring and managing an enterprise class SAN / cloud storage technology.
  • Technical expertise designing, configuring and supporting messaging related systems and technologies including SMTP, DNS, message transport and mail routing.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple, concurrent and conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills (English).
  • Ability to think outside the box and beyond the current solution to identify new and improved solutions - can identify an idea logically, document the overall solution and the technology and successfully deliver the solution.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
  • Exceptional and proven technical, analytical, organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a clear understanding of customer impact and business requirement.
  • Extremely developed troubleshooting/problem solving skills.
  • Exceptionally motivated and technical individual with experience in numerous aspects of Information Technology.
  • Excellent ability to utilize available tools to effectively obtain results.
  • Ability to mentor Systems Analyst I as well as other team members through knowledge-transfer.
  • Superior ability to understand and incorporate new operating systems, applications, etc. from test to production environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Windows applications.
  • Technical writing including documentation of procedures.


Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • MCSE certification.
  • MS Azure Infrastructure certification.
  • VMware certification.
  • Linux certification.


This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $75,440 - $94,300 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate's competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
