Description
Northrop Grumman Space Systems1issile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for a Systems Administrator 1ATCOM Technician (26-214) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Based in Kyoga-Misaki, Japan, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations, both globally and regionally, to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.
Selected SATCOM technicians will provide technical support for a Hardened Transportable MET AN/GSC-52 satellite terminal in Kyogamisaki, Japan.
Essential Functions:
3 Responsible for operating, maintaining, monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing Satellite Terminal systems, including their connectivity to local and wide area networks, end-to-end telecommunications, circuit switching systems, and Long-Haul communication/transmission systems
3 Evaluates capabilities and performance, detects issues, and implements corrective measures to optimize SATCOM equipment operation
3 Oversee the status and performance of Transmission and Receive systems
3 Responds swiftly to circuit outages and, when needed, collaborates with remote facilities and local Systems/Users to restore communication services
3 Solves problems of limited to moderate scope and complexity
3 Work is closely supervised in accordance with established policies and procedures or under very general supervision
3 Contacts are primarily with the immediate supervisor and within the company or group, but may be external as well
3 Performs various additional duties and assignments as needed
Basic Qualifications:
Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.
3 A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 2 years of experience; or a Masters degree in a related field with 0 years of relevant work experience; or 6 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
3 Applicants must have a current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, SecurityX, CCNA Security, CySA+ **, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, CASP+ CE, CISSP, etc.) at the time of application, which is required to start. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their DoD 8140 certification throughout the entire contract period
3 Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
3 Must have strong skills and background in SATCOM principles, operations, maintenance, and repair
3 Skilled in using common SATCOM test equipment
3 It is essential to understand the signal flow and end-to-end configuration diagrams of circuits
3 Understanding of Network System Administration
3 Experience working with Microsoft and Linux operating system environments/platforms
3 Knowledge of TACLANE encryption devices and Crypto Device Loaders like SKLs
3 Experience with CISCO routers and switches
3 This position involves working in shifts around the clock, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The specific shift assigned will depend on the mission needs
Preferred Qualifications:
3 Prior military satellite communications technician, US Navy ET NEC 1465, US Air Force AFSC 2E1X1, US Army MOS 31S/25S, or US Marine Corps MOS 2827
3 PAAWNS experience
3 MET experience
3 Experience in HEMP hardening maintenance and testing
3 A blend of strategic and tactical satellite communications experience
3 CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) Certification is desired
3 Experience in basic Linux or Red Hat server administration
3 Basic knowledge of operating, performing preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting generators and HVAC/ECU climate control systems
3 EBEM experience

Primary Level Salary Range: $75,800.00 - $113,800.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
