Department: Lab - General Corporate

Work Type: Full Time

Shift: Shift 1

Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate: $61.44 - $82.97 / hour

Summary

Responsible for overall operational performance and oversight of all lab operations at Lee Health. Plans, facilitates, and leads strategic and capital projects and other initiatives that are in alignment with system-wide and lab goals. Collaborates with the Laboratory Medical Directors, acute care clinical leadership, and other Lee Health department leaders to establish long-range goals and objectives to meet the needs of patients, physicians, acute care hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, physician offices, urgent care, and other Lee Health entities. Is responsible for continuous improvement within all lab areas while fostering a culture of safety. Works collaboratively with senior leadership to make recommendations that will have system-wide impact and can drive long-range organizational direction and improvement for laboratory services. Assesses the effectiveness of services and programs to assure the highest degree of quality, customer service, productivity, and cost-effectiveness. Promotes the growth and impact of our Regional Lab both internally and to external sources. Ensures that all laboratory services are delivered in accordance with national quality benchmarks and financial standards. Ensures that laboratory services are delivered with all standards and regulations governing the clinical laboratories, point of care testing, blood center, and pathology areas.

Requirements

Education: B.A. or B.S. degree required. MBA or MHA preferred.

Experience: A minimum of five years' clinical laboratory management experience, preferably in a multi-facility environment with a centralized lab component, along with a significant outreach program.

Certification: MT (ASCP) Medical Technologist certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification or equivalent.

License: Clinical Laboratory Supervisor (SU) license from the Florida Department of Health required.

Other: Must have the ability to solve a variety of complex problems that may be unanticipated or non-recurring in nature. Vision, ingenuity, and professional judgment skills are essential. Must have the ability to deal with factors not easily evaluated, interpret results, draw conclusions and take or recommend action. Must have strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
