Full Job Description
What You Will Do:

As a System Administrator Level 2 at Independent Software, you will support the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mission-critical Information Technology (IT) systems supporting national defense and intelligence operations. You will help maintain the reliability, security, and performance of enterprise IT environments by supporting day-to-day operations across client/server systems, storage, network infrastructure, and operating systems.

In this role, you will provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, monitor system health, and assist with system administration activities in Linux/UNIX and Windows environments. You will work closely with engineering teams, customers, and agency stakeholders to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient IT operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for the implementation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and operation of enterprise IT systems.
  • Monitor and support the day-to-day operation of client/server, storage, network, and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Configure, administer, and maintain Linux/UNIX and Windows operating systems.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain operating system software and system components.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues and support problem resolution through completion.
  • Monitor system performance and implement enhancements to improve reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Support system maintenance activities, including software updates, patching, and configuration management.
  • Develop and maintain scripts or automation tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • Support virtualization, enterprise infrastructure, and related technologies as required.
  • Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and system configurations.
  • Communicate system status, issues, and resolutions to customers, management, and technical teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/UNIX and Windows system administration.
  • Experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure, including client/server, storage, and network environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, operating system, and network issues.
  • Experience with system monitoring, maintenance, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with scripting or automation tools to support system administration.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university plus eight (8) years of systems administration experience
  • In lieu of a degree, four (4) additional years of systems administration experience may be substituted

Certifications:
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level I or higher (e.g., Security+ CE) is required

Clearance Requirement:
  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
