What You'll Do: Join our team as a System Administrator and take a hands-on role in powering a modern, secure, and resilient hybrid IT environment! Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, you'll be at the center of our technology operations-managing Microsoft workstations, VMware virtualization, Windows and Linux servers, and mobile device management. You'll help keep our systems running smoothly, securely, and reliably while safeguarding sensitive data and ensuring regulatory compliance in a dynamic credit union environment. This is a role for a proactive problem-solver who thrives on keeping systems up to date, resolving work orders and projects on schedule, and delivering outstanding support to end users. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required but may not be all-inclusive.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage, maintain, and secure Foothill's computer systems
  • Responsible for uptime, security patches, user permissions, and troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Troubleshoot techniques to resolve technical problems of moderate to high scope and complexity to include the integration of hardware and operating systems
  • Administer and maintain hybrid infrastructure across on-premises and cloud-based Microsoft environments, including LAN and WAN equipment
  • Maintain and configure Microsoft cloud services, e.g. Intune, Entra, Office 365 etc.
  • Manage Windows workstations, Windows Servers and Linux systems to ensure performance, reliability, and uptime
  • Oversee VMware virtualization platforms (ESXi, vCenter), including provisioning and resource optimization
  • Plan, test, and deploy system updates, patches, and upgrades across servers, endpoints, and mobile devices
  • Monitor network connectivity, system performance, and availability
  • Collaborate closely with the technology team system deployments and cybersecurity initiatives
  • Perform daily and monthly checklists of critical systems
  • Furnish documentation, diagrams, and other reports
  • Assist end-users with telephone and telecommunications-related issues, configuration and maintenance of phone system, voice mail, and other technical support issues

Backup and Disaster Recovery:
  • Design, implement, and maintain virtual backup solutions for VMware environments and critical systems
  • Perform regular backups and ensure successful completion through monitoring and reporting
  • Conduct periodic recovery testing and disaster recovery drills
  • Manage retention policies and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Assist with the preparation, maintenance, and testing of Foothill's disaster recovery plan and Business Continuity Plan (BCP)
  • Responsible for remaining current on the latest industry news involving various computer-based and human threats to Foothill's network infrastructure, including viruses, external/internal penetration, and other internal risks affecting the stability and confidentiality/integrity of data
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of a plan to audit end-users' workstations on an ongoing semi-annual basis
  • Responsible for cross-training Information System team members as backup knowledge of network protocols, traffic log analysis, and network security architecture
  • Assist with computer operations as needed
  • Attend meetings as required or assigned
  • May perform other duties or projects as assigned

Mobile Device Management (MDM):
  • Administer and support MDM solutions (e.g., Microsoft Intune or similar platforms)
  • Enroll, configure, and manage corporate and BYOD mobile devices (iOS, Android, laptops)
  • Enforce security policies including device encryption, PIN/password policies, and remote wipe capabilities
  • Manage application deployment, updates, and patching for mobile devices
  • Monitor device compliance and remediate non-compliant devices
  • Integrate MDM with identity systems (e.g., Azure AD) and conditional access policies

Security and Compliance:
  • Implement and enforce data security controls across servers, endpoints, and mobile devices
  • Ensure secure integration across Microsoft and Linux platforms
  • Monitor logs, alerts, and security events to identify and respond to threats
  • Collaborate with the Senior Network Administrator and the IT team to ensure all systems conform to the security standards.
  • Support audits and maintain compliance with standards such as NCUA and FFIEC
  • Knowledge of vulnerability management lifecycle

General Administration:
  • Responsible for maintaining Azure, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity services
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, network, virtualization, backup, and endpoint issues
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce infrastructure standards, technical documentation, system architecture diagrams, and operational procedures to ensure consistency, reliability, and compliance across the IT environment.


Requirements

Experience and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Five (5) years of system administration experience in a hybrid environment
  • Three (3) years of IT security experience on firewalls, next-gen antivirus, and access controls.
  • Strong expertise in Windows Server administration (AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO)
  • Working knowledge of Linux systems (Ubuntu, RHEL or similar)
  • Experience with VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter)
  • Hands-on experience with MDM platforms (Microsoft Intune preferred)
  • Experience with backup and recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam or similar)
  • Experience in supporting desktop, workstation hardware, mitigating end-user data
  • Experience with Cloud Platforms

Preferred Certifications:
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Microsoft Endpoint Administrator (Intune) or similar

Other Skills and Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of operating systems (Linux/Windows) and networking fundamentals
  • Knowledgeable of cybersecurity best practices
  • Understanding of endpoint security, identity management, and compliance frameworks
  • Demonstrated knowledge of designing, implementing, administering, and troubleshooting Microsoft Hyper-V environments, including failover clustering, virtual machine lifecycle management, performance optimization, high availability, disaster recovery, and migration strategies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of designing, implementing, administering, and supporting Nutanix Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI), including cluster deployment, Prism management, storage optimization, capacity planning, performance monitoring, upgrades, and ongoing operational support.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and analytical across infrastructure, endpoints, and mobile environments
  • Attention to detail with a focus on security and compliance related trends
  • Ability to manage multiple systems and priorities effectively
  • Clear communication and strong documentation skills
  • Remain knowledgeable of technical industry advancements and comply with all requirements concerning responsibility
  • Ability to determine priority based on the criticality of issues and several users affected
