Position Overview
Primary Purpose of PositionThe System Administrator for Engineering Computing plays a crucial role in maintaining the unique computing infrastructure within the College of Engineering. This role is responsible for providing technical support for desktop systems, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), IoT devices, and networking infrastructure. The System Administrator ensures reliable operation and efficient use of technology by faculty, staff, and students while maintaining documentation. Additionally, the System Administrator will be responsible for installing, testing, coding, debugging, and managing existing applications, servers, and infrastructure, working with stakeholders to implement solutions that support the College's mission.
Minimum Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 3 years experience in technical support role (Windows, Linux and/or MacOS)
- Experience with IoT devices
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education - 5 years experience in technical support role (Windows, Linux and/or MacOS) in an academic or commercial environment
- Experience with software development lifecycles and project management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Required License or CertificationIs this position eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. On-site (Employees are primarily in the office and/or have a critical job requirement that requires dedicated office space on-site)
