We have an exciting opportunity for a
SWME Project Manager to join our JETS II contract team at
NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.
If selected you will: - Perform project management for a spacesuit water membrane evaporator development project
- Manage the overall efforts related to systems engineering, project engineering, test engineering and logistics engineering
- Manage the project team and their activities
- Provide budgeting, forecasting and cost estimating support
- Monitor cost performance for the project against the established plan
- Develop and maintain financial reports
- Develop and manage project schedule
- Oversee the development of procedures, work instructions and process flows
- Manage project risks and opportunities and ensure that a structured risk and opportunity process is followed
- Assess how program level changes impact project requirements and execution
- Interface frequently with inter-organizational disciplines, NASA personnel, and vendors
- Work with the lead systems engineer to meet technical and performance goals
- Perform other duties as required

- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2- 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Understanding of complex spacesuit, thermal control systems development and operations processes
- Experience managing and leading engineering projects
- Experience with financial reporting, including budgeting, forecasting and cost estimating
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with customers and management at all levels
- Ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines
- Ability to work independently and autonomously and track tasks and issues to completion
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, environmental testing, and office software
Preferred Qualifications: - BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of fourteen (14) years of direct engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and twelve (12) years of direct engineering experience, or Ph.D. degrees and nine (9) years direct engineering experience
- Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures
- Prior experience working in a system development project/program
