About this Role
Quanta Services is seeking a Senior Vice President, Grid Modernization and Power Electronics to serve as the executive leader of one of Quanta's highest-growth and most strategically critical business areas. Reporting directly to the President, this role is responsible for developing and executing Quanta's strategy across grid modernization, power electronics, energy storage, and related advanced grid technologies — areas that sit at the intersection of the energy transition and Quanta's core infrastructure capabilities. The Senior Vice President will lead and grow a portfolio of operating companies engaged in substation modernization, grid automation, FACTS devices, battery energy storage systems (BESS), power conversion, and transmission infrastructure — partnering closely with utility customers, government stakeholders, and technology partners to position Quanta as the premier contractor and services provider in this rapidly evolving segment. This is a highly visible executive role requiring deep technical understanding of the power grid, proven operational leadership at scale, and the ability to shape market strategy in a sector undergoing significant transformation.
What You'll Do
Strategic Leadership & Market Development
- Develop and execute Quanta's segment strategy for grid modernization and power electronics, aligned with the energy transition, federal infrastructure investment, and utility customer priorities;
- Identify and pursue growth opportunities across grid automation, substation modernization, BESS, FACTS, power conversion, and emerging grid technologies;
- Shape Quanta's positioning with utility customers, independent power producers, co-ops, and federal and state energy agencies as a preferred execution partner for advanced grid infrastructure; and
- Monitor regulatory, policy, and market developments — including FERC orders, IRA incentives, DOE programs, and NERC reliability standards — and translate implications into actionable business strategy.
Operating Company Oversight & Performance
- Provide executive oversight of operating companies within the Grid Modernization and Power Electronics segment, driving accountability for safety, financial performance, and project execution;
- Lead operating company presidents and senior leadership teams, conducting regular business reviews and driving corrective action where performance gaps exist;
- Ensure operational best practices, safety culture, and quality standards are consistently applied across all operating companies; and
- Support operating company leaders in navigating complex project execution, customer challenges, and workforce development needs.
Financial Performance & P&L Ownership
- Own the segment's financial performance, including revenue growth, margin management, backlog development, and EBITDA targets;
- Lead annual operating planning and long-range financial forecasting for the segment;
- Partner with corporate Finance and business development teams on capital allocation, M&A evaluation, and investment decisions; and
- Drive profitable growth through disciplined bidding, contract risk management, and operational cost efficiency.
Customer & Stakeholder Relationships
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with major utility customers, transmission owners, ISOs/RTOs, government agencies, and technology partners;
- Represent Quanta in high-stakes customer negotiations, industry forums, and policy discussions related to grid modernization and clean energy infrastructure;
- Partner with business development teams to support major pursuits, frame teaming strategies, and differentiate Quanta's capabilities in competitive markets; and
- Serve as a recognized industry leader and spokesperson for Quanta in the grid modernization and power electronics space.
Safety & Risk Management
- Champion a zero-incident safety culture across all operating companies and project sites within the segment;
- Partner with EHS leadership to proactively identify and mitigate operational, safety, and project execution risks; and
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, contractual, and company safety and quality standards.
Talent & Organizational Development
- Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing executive leadership team across segment operating companies;
- Partner with Human Resources on succession planning, leadership development, and organizational design for the segment;
- Build workforce strategies that support the specialized technical and craft labor demands of grid modernization and power electronics work; and
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement across the segment.
What You'll Bring
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field;
- 15 or more years of progressive leadership experience in power systems, grid infrastructure, or energy construction, with significant P&L responsibility at a senior or executive level;
- Deep technical knowledge of the electric power grid, including transmission and distribution infrastructure, substation systems, power electronics, and emerging grid technologies such as BESS, FACTS, and grid automation;
- Proven experience leading multi-site operations and executive leadership teams across complex, large-scale infrastructure businesses;
- Demonstrated track record of driving profitable growth, developing customer relationships, and executing strategy in a competitive infrastructure market;
- Strong understanding of utility customer dynamics, energy policy, and the regulatory environment governing grid infrastructure; and
- Exceptional executive presence and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels — from craft workforce to C-suite and board-level stakeholders.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master's degree or MBA preferred;
- Experience with mergers, acquisitions, and integration of operating companies in the energy or infrastructure sector preferred;
