SUMMARY:

Responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and continual improvement of YMMC Environmental/Energy Programs and Management System (ISO 14001/ISO 50001).

Responsible for evaluating and implementing energy efficiency, renewable energy, and GHG reduction projects and reduce Scope 1, 2 and 3 CO2 emissions.

Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Corporate Planning and Sustainability, and other cross-functional stakeholders to identify opportunities, develop technical solutions, evaluate project feasibility, and support implementation of energy and sustainability initiatives.

Support the development and coordination of Energy Kaizen Program and POWER Teams at the manufacturing floor level to identify, implement, and promote campus-wide CO2 emissions reduction activities.

Monitor energy and sustainability performance and provide technical analysis, recommendations, and reporting to support YMMC's Environmental Plan 2035 and corporate sustainability objectives.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Manager of Environmental and Sustainability, serve as interface, reporting contact for corporate, governmental and third parties, compiling and complete required sustainability reports for submission.

Liaison to Yamaha North America Manufacturing locations and Global Utility Teams for CO2 emission reductions and meeting goals and targets associated with the Yamaha Environmental Plan 2050 (i.e., sustainability and carbon neutrality goals) for Carbon Neutrality by 2035.

Develop solutions to reduce CO2 emissions and improve energy consumption and use through research, design, documentation, and construction. This position will help facilitate projects associated with energy reduction, CO2emissions reduction, and cost savings while collaborating with the engineering and maintenance departments.

Track and review internal projects to ensure they align with sustainability requirements, including proper use and calculation of internal cost of carbon.

Monitor and analyze energy usage data and track Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon emissions in accordance with site-specific and corporate policies. This includes working with suppliers, contractors, and logistics teams to report and track the carbon footprint.

Support the installation, monitoring, and maintenance of solar power arrays, including service agreements, and manage associated costs and revenues while also assisting in negotiations of renewable energy credit programs.

Conduct energy audits to identify opportunities for energy conservation and develop strategies to reduce energy consumption.

Develop and manage line-level energy Kaizen Teams and POWER teams to assist in managing small-scale department-specific projects and activities to promote corporate carbon-neutral goals.

Create and conduct energy conservation training programs for employees. Assist in support of zero waste to landfill goals as part of Yamaha's Environmental Plan

2050.

Analyze data and conduct cost-benefit analyses to assess the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of various energy-saving measures.

Conduct research on emerging sustainable energy technologies and techniques while evaluating their potential for use in existing and future projects.

Monitor and analyze energy usage data to identify trends and opportunities for further

improvements in energy efficiency.

Review new materials / processes for environmental and sustainability requirements and assist with implementation.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power BI, including data analysis, formulas, charts, and reporting.
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and communicate technical data.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels and across multiple departments.
  • Comfortable working hands-on in a manufacturing environment and collecting information directly from equipment, processes, and operations.
  • Basic understanding of environmental, energy, sustainability, or manufacturing principles. Strong data analysis and Excel graphing skills required.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Energy Management, or a related field preferred. In lieu of a degree, candidates with six (6) or more years of progressively responsible experience in a manufacturing environment related to environmental compliance, sustainability, energy management, industrial engineering, maintenance, facilities, or production support will be considered.
