Job Title: Survey Project Manager
Location: Riverside, CA
Work Arrangement: On-site (Full-Time)
Compensation: $95,000 - $125,000 per year Role OverviewThis is a senior-level technical leadership position focused on managing surveying and construction staking projects from initial proposal through final delivery. Working directly on-site in Riverside, CA, you will manage client relationships, oversee survey workloads, process agency submittals, and ensure all field and office operations achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Project & Budget Management: Manage project schedules, operational budgets, resource allocation, contract hours, and scope management to ensure on-time delivery.
- Technical Quality & Review: Prepare and review detailed CAD drawings including Boundary, Topographic, ALTA/NSPS, Land Title, As-Built, and Subdivision Maps.
- Agency Compliance: Process project submittals with city, county, and regulatory agencies. Coordinate construction bid documents and contract administration.
- Analysis & Calculations: Perform rigorous boundary analysis, closure calculations, legal descriptions, exhibit preparation, and support construction staking calculations.
- Client & Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, and public agencies to streamline project execution.
Required Qualifications- Education & Licensing: Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification is strictly required.
- Core Experience: Minimum five (5) years of progressive surveying and mapping experience, preferably supporting private land development and public works projects.
- Leadership Depth: Minimum three (3) years of direct management or supervisory experience overseeing survey staff and field crews.
- Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of California surveying regulations, municipal standards, agency procedures, construction sequencing, and site constraints.
- Estimating Skills: Proven experience preparing structural construction staking calculations and detailed construction cost estimates.
Technical Skills & Tools- Core Platforms: AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Preferred Software: Carlson Software knowledge is highly desirable.
Additional Operational Details: Supervisory Responsibilities- Direct and coordinate the daily activities of field crews and collaborate directly with engineers, analysts, and contractors.
- Manage staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and project workload distribution.
