This position will supervise, assign, and coordinate the activities of the Department staff, including Professional Land Surveyors II and/or Professional Land Surveyors I, as well as monitor and review the work of consultants. This position will also supervise the preparation of maps, sketches, and descriptions to convey right of way, easements, and agreements.

Annual Salary Range:$ 86,272.77 - $ 111,647.12 Your Specific Responsibilities:Supervises employees spending the majority of the time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees' work. Has the authority to effectively recommend the hiring, transferring, suspension, layoff, recalls, promotions, discharges, assignments, rewards, or disciplinary actions for subordinate employees. Plans and directs workloads, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with subordinate staff. Provides direction and ensures that all subordinates receive training and instruction in methods and techniques necessary to safely perform their assigned tasks. Prepares and evaluates employee performance expectations. Implements training and development of employees, manages employees, approves timesheets, monitors and reports attendance and leave balances for employees, meets with staff to discuss individual and team performance, promotes safety awareness and monitors the staff to assure adherence to safety requirements.
Manages, assigns, and coordinates the activities of Department staff, including Professional Land Surveyors II and/or Professional Land Surveyor Supervisors I, as well as monitoring and reviewing the work of consultants. Provides guidance and reviews projects for compliance to Department standards and project specific scopes of services. Assures deliverables meet state laws, regulations, and accepted principles and practices. Reviews reports, deliverables, and project estimates proposals.
Manages the preparation of maps, sketches & descriptions to convey right of way, easements and agreements. Manage and coordinate the computations & drafting of maps & sketches and the writing of descriptions and documents to convey right of way. Analyzes title information and official records. Supervises the preparation, execution, and delivery of surveys. Manages and coordinates the processing of collected data, the calculations of land lines and related data. Monitors and track the scheduled dates for the distribution of maps, sketches, and descriptions.
Assists Department personnel, the public, consultants, and other agencies, with questions and issues regarding title information and documents. Provides assistance in the acquisition process.
The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of: - Principles, practices, laws, and regulations governing the surveying and mapping profession.
- Department procedures, guidelines, and standards for the Offices of Surveying & Mapping, Design, and Right of Way.
Skilled in:- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Negotiating project scopes and staff hour estimates.
- Coaching, mentoring, and motivating employees.
Ability to:- Supervise people.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Plan, organize, coordinate, and perform multiple projects.
- Monitor and assess the performance of employees and consultants.
- Read legal description, maps, plats, and plans.
Licensure/Registration/Certification Requirements:- Registration as a Professional Surveyor & Mapper in accordance with Florida Statute 472.
