Job Description
Job Title: Surgical Tech

Certifications: BLS, Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Must-Have:
- Must have experience in ortho and endo.
- Be a well-rounded CST with 1-2 years of experience.
- No robotics experience required.

Description:
Unit functions with 4 OR suites, typically running 3, and 1 endo suite.
Average number of cases per day is between 20-21.
Common cases include ortho-heavy surgeries such as hips, knees, shoulders, ortho spine, TLIF, hernias, lap chole, OB, GYN, hysteroscopy, hysterectomy, urology, cysto, prostate, ENT cases (2 times per month), and pediatric surgeries including tubes, tonsils, and adenoids.
Charge nurse is available in the OR for support.
The coordinator is available as needed.
Shifts run from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
Weeknight call requirements include 4 days a month from 5:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
Weekend call requires 24-hour availability, with at least one weekend day per month.
Department is closed on major holidays, with on-call as needed.
Call response time is 30 minutes.
Floating to SPD is not required.
Dress code includes provided scrubs.
Department orientation includes fit testing and net learning over a 3-day period, covering ortho, general, and endo surgeries.
Charting system used is Meditech.
Position does not require a BSN.
This role is within an acute care setting.
The trauma level is 3.
