Full Job Description
Surgical Physician Assistant who will provide health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of Physician by performing the following duties: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and complies patient medical data including health history and results of physical examination. • Under the direction of a total joints (hips and knees) Physician, you will conduct patient assessments, order, or directly provide treatments, and provide patient education and support. • Provides post-op follow-ups as needed including hospital rounding. • First assist in the O/R 1-3 days per week and clinic 2-4 days per week. • Successful candidate must possess excellent suturing and wound closure skills. • Work under protocol to develop an effective, safe, and patient-centered treatment plan. • Provide timely and complete clinical documentation in the EHR following patient visits or telephone calls. • Maintain ongoing communication with the physician regarding assigned patients and provide timely notification of changes in patient status. • Maintain ongoing communication with other members of the care team through written documentation, telephone or in-person conversation. • Ensure timely access of patient appointments. • Provide On-Call weekend coverage 1-2 weekends each quarter WILL WORK AT MULTIPLE SITES INCLUDING: Santa Monica, Marina Del Rey, Providence Saint John's Health Center, Surgery Center of the Pacific Qualifications Educational Requirements: • Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant studies License/Certification requirements: • National Certification as a Physician Assistant • BLS and ACLS Certification required • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification required Experience: • Minimum one (1) year Physician Assistant experience in a relevant clinical area preferred, e.g., orthopaedics or sports medicine, general surgery, reconstructive surgery, or other surgical specialties.
