A Day in the Life
We are seeking a committed professional to join our team. While this is a remote position not located at a physical Medtronic site, the candidate hired will be required to reside within the territory and drive to multiple accounts throughout the region. A valid driver's license is essential for this role.

The Surgical Conversion Specialist (SCS) is a high-impact, field-based clinical leader and logistical strategist. You will be the primary architect of the "Product Conversion Process," managing the physical and clinical transition of hospital suture and wound closure inventory from competitors to Medtronic. This role is the critical bridge between a signed contract and long-term clinical adoption, ensuring that Medtronic technology becomes the standard of care in the Operating Room.

Core Responsibilities

1. Clinical & Technical Leadership

  • Intra-Operative Support: Provide expert technical guidance to surgeons and OR staff during live procedures, ensuring seamless adoption of Medtronic's wound closure portfolio.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the national SME for high-value technologies, including V-Loc™ Barbed Sutures, Conventional Suture and specialty conversion portfolios.

  • Clinical In-Servicing: Lead comprehensive training for OR nurses, Surgical Technicians, and Residents on product codes, needle anatomy, and material science.

2. Conversion & Implementation Strategy

  • The "Product Swap": Orchestrate the physical removal of competitive inventory and the streamlined organization of Medtronic stock within OR cores and specialty carts.

  • Precision Gap Analysis: Audit hospital usage to identify exact "product equivalents," mitigating clinical disruption during the transition.

  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with local Surgical Account Managers (SAM) to ensure conversions hit volume targets and remain on schedule.

  • Lead Representation: Serve as the "Lead Rep" in high-priority facilities or complex accounts requiring executive-level oversight.

3. Business & Operational Excellence

  • Value Analysis (VAC) Engagement: Present clinical data and success metrics to hospital leadership to validate the financial and clinical move to Medtronic.

  • Territory Stabilization: Provide elite-level coverage for territories in transition or vacancy to protect market share and maintain customer continuity.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Conversion Velocity: Achieving timely completion of inventory swaps and staff training within the implementation window.

  • Contract Compliance: Driving accounts toward 100% "pull-through" and compliance with Medtronic agreements.

  • Surgeon Experience: Maintaining high satisfaction scores regarding clinical outcomes and product "feel" during the transition.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Science, Nursing, or a related field.
  • Healthcare Experience: 2+ years of sales or clinical experience in a hospital environment.

  • Travel: Ability to travel 75%+ within the US Region to support diverse hospital sites.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Sales Mastery: Demonstrated success in previous roles with a high level of sales performance and persuasion skills.

  • Supply Chain Knowledge: Understanding of hospital vendor/distributor workflows and supply chain management.

  • Executive Presence: Ability to develop and deliver complex business reviews to C-Suite and Value Analysis stakeholders.

  • Adaptability: Proven ability to multi-task in high-pressure environments and work independently or as a team lead.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and the ability to navigate complex CRM/inventory databases.
