Storeroom Manager - Hopewell Mill

The Opportunity:

Smurfit Westrock Hopewell Mill has an opportunity for a Storeroom Manager to join the team. The position is a key member of the Hopewell mill Supply Chain team and is responsible for overseeing all storeroom and inventory operations within a large paper manufacturing facility. We are looking for someone who ensures safe operations and takes initiative as a team player with a process improvement mindset. Our culture at Hopewell is such that the ideal candidate in this role will also have a desire to understand every aspect of the mill for successful overall contribution and career growth with the mill. The Storeroom Supervisor leads storeroom personnel, manages inventory accuracy, coordinates with Maintenance and Operations teams, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to optimize inventory levels and storeroom performance.

How you will impact WestRock:

Storeroom Management

  • Supervise daily storeroom operations, including shipping, receiving, issuing, kitting, stocking, delivery, and cycle counting of materials.
  • Run ERP system (JDE) Reorder Process (ROP) and ensure requisitions are generated to maintain stocking levels.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within JDE and process item details changes in Integrity.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure critical spare parts and consumables are available to support mill operations.
  • Ensure cycle counts are conducted daily, investigating and resolving discrepancies, completing daily cycle count reviews.
  • Manage obsolete, excess, and inactive inventory to minimize carrying costs.


  • Run and submit Hopewell inventory data/reports to mill & corporate management as required to meet periodic i.e. monthly requirements.
  • Resolve inventory discrepancies i.e. that include item research, location and resolution.


  • Maintain JDE item details and stocking parameters according to best practices


Leadership and Supervision

  • Lead, train, schedule, and develop storeroom personnel.
  • Supervises five (5) inventory personnel to include setting schedules and reviewing hours worked
  • Establish performance expectations and conduct employee evaluations.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and labor agreements.
  • Schedule regular meetings with Procurement, Maintenance, Finance and Operations to identify improvements, potential reductions and any issues that need to be discussed regarding inventory that impacts the mill from an operational/cost aspect.


Procurement, Stakeholder and Vendor Coordination

  • Coordinate with Procurement and Maintenance departments to forecast material requirements.
  • Review replenishment reports and initiate purchase requisitions as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Support vendor-managed inventory programs and supplier performance initiatives.


  • Partner with maintenance planners and reliability teams to ensure parts availability for planned shutdowns, outages, and capital projects.
  • Work with internal customers to identify and address unmet needs that align with inventory, procurement and business unit goals to deliver long term value.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams at the facility, other mills, and corporate teams to implement mill and corporate initiatives.
  • Coordinate kitting of parts for planned maintenance activities.
  • Work in a team environment and be team leader on special projects


Safety and Compliance

  • Lead Safety for the area, holding daily safety briefings and attend team safety meetings.
  • Maintain a safe and organized storeroom environment.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals, lubricants, and hazardous materials.
  • Enforce OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards.
  • Participate in safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.


Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve storeroom efficiency, inventory accuracy, and service levels.
  • Implement best practices related to 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and inventory optimization.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as:
  • Inventory accuracy
  • Stockout frequency
  • Service level performance
  • Inventory reduction
  • Cycle count completion rates

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School degree required, Bachelor degree preferred (Supply Chain, Business, or Accounting desired).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain (purchasing, inventory, engineering or maintenance).
  • Inventory administration and personnel supervisory experience a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Office to include Excel (creation of spreadsheets), PowerPoint (ability to do presentations), and Word (document creation).
  • Be highly organized and detailed oriented to ensure inventory is properly managed and stored
  • Travel (as needed) to corporate meetings representing Hopewell mill for inventory-related meetings and/or additional training opportunities.


Salary Range: $100,000-$130,000

The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to relevant skills and experience, credentials for the position, time in an applicable role, and geographic location.
