The Opportunity

The Dispatch Supervisor coordinates the safe and efficient movement of freight to meet customer demands through effective dispatching, driver supervision, operational planning, communication, and issue resolution. This role is responsible for ensuring transportation operations run smoothly while maintaining a high level of service for both internal and external customers.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock Packaging Solutions:

  • Dispatch all outbound and inbound loads to ensure customer service and delivery requirements are met.
  • Coordinate and communicate daily routing, scheduling, and operational changes with drivers and internal departments.
  • Ensure all ISO procedures are followed for dispatching, loading, and unloading activities.
  • Follow up on all Xata Net requests and ensure driver logs are accurate, complete, and compliant.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements to ensure compliant load scheduling.
  • Proactively identify and resolve transportation, delivery, and driver-related issues before they impact service.
  • Establish contingency plans and respond effectively to operational disruptions.
  • Monitor delivery performance and follow through on customer, driver, and internal department requests to completion.
  • Communicate effectively with Customer Service, warehouse operations, drivers, and management regarding delivery status, delays, PODs, and customer concerns.
  • Supervise transportation personnel and warehouse staff involved in loading activities to ensure trailers are loaded accurately and on time.
  • Ensure all outbound loads depart according to schedule and customer requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized dock and transportation work area.
  • Assist in U-Haul production as needed.
  • Restock and assist with warehouse operations when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What you need to succeed:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership, dispatch, transportation, or supervisory role.
  • Prior experience scheduling, planning, and directing activities of CDL drivers.
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

The salary range for this position is $66,750.00 - $111,250.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 15 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
