Job Summary

Supply Planner manages the end-to-end supply chain by integrating purchasing with production planning to ensure material availability, optimize inventory levels, and maintain on-time delivery performance. This role utilizes ERP/MRP systems to issue purchase orders, manage supplier performance, and align production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Issue purchase orders and manage supplier commitments to ensure timely fulfillment of material requirements.


  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules with suppliers to optimize cost and supply reliability.


  • Monitor supplier performance using key metrics such as On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) and take corrective actions when necessary.


  • Identify and resolve supply disruptions, shortages, or delays to minimize operational impact.


  • Communicate demand forecasts and replenishment plans with suppliers to support production planning and inventory availability.


Planning & Inventory Management

  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules aligned with customer demand, available capacity, and material availability.


  • Monitor schedule adherence and production performance, proactively identifying and resolving constraints that may impact delivery timelines.


  • Communicate schedule changes, potential risks, and recovery plans to production and management teams to ensure alignment.


  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance planning, scheduling efficiency, and operational performance.


Requirements And Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business, Operations, or related field


  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing, production planning, or inventory control.


  • Experience within a manufacturing environment


  • Strong proficiency in ERP/MRP systems


  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis).


  • Ability to analyze data and translate into actionable supply plans.

The estimated salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000 plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range. At Xylem we offer a competitive compensation package with a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.
