Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Supply Base Management Specialist to join our dynamic team in Hazelwood, Missouri.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages supplier/subcontractor performance and relationships
  • Provides business and strategic guidance for critical suppliers, commodities and programs
  • Leads the resolution of complex or strategic supply chain issues
  • Consults with management and customers to lead the development of future supply base requirements
  • Integrates supplier strategies with program needs and supply base capabilities
  • Drives the company's cross-functional supply base strategy process
  • Evaluates potential proposals and coordinates sourcing proposals
  • Ensures external partners are meeting business expectations
  • Acts as primary point of contact for suppliers, customers and programs

Key Position Responsibilities

  • Supplier Performance Management: Define, design, and deploy enterprise-wide performance optimization strategies and long-term metrics framework for critical, multi-million dollar defense and aerospace suppliers.
  • Supplier Capability Assessment: Lead macro-level, highly complex on-site evaluations of supplier manufacturing capacities, technical limitations, enterprise financial health, and industrial scale capabilities.
  • Risk & Issue Resolution: Formulate predictive risk-mitigation plans for the global supply network; direct large-scale, cross-functional recovery teams to resolve severe supplier failures and programmatic bottlenecks.
  • Sourcing & Strategy Execution: Partner with executive leadership to shape long-range supplier selection, advanced sourcing models, technology roadmap alignment, and supply base consolidation strategies.
  • Continuous Improvement (Lean): Champion the deployment of advanced Lean manufacturing systems, Six Sigma methodologies, and strategic industrial engineering principles to transform supplier operational yields.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Bridge communication at the executive level, aligning major supplier initiatives with Defense Engineering, Quality Assurance, Executive Program Management, and Finance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Serve as the final authority on supply base adherence to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (FAR/DFARS).

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position is for 1st shift.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (An Interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post Start is required.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Operations, or a related technical/business discipline.
  • More than 10 years of related work experience in supplier management, procurement, supplier quality, or manufacturing operations.
  • More than 10 years of using FAR/DFARS clauses, ITAR regulations, and aerospace/defense manufacturing compliance standards.
  • More than 10 years of experience utilizing enterprise ERP software (such as SAP) and advanced business intelligence platforms to drive supply network decisions.
  • More than 10 years of negotiations, executive conflict resolution, and complex enterprise project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience)

  • Current, active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance or higher.
  • Master’s degree or advanced professional certifications in supply chain or quality (e.g., APICS CSCP, ASQ Certified Supplier Quality Engineer, PMP).
  • More than 10+ years of experience using Lean, Six Sigma, or Theory of Constraints methodologies in a heavy aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • More than 10+ years of experience with cutting-edge aerospace systems, advanced electronics, specialized composite machining, or complex defense weapon platforms.

Typical Education/Experience:

Typically 15 or more years’ related work experience or relevant military experience. Advanced degree (e.g. Bachelor, Master, etc.) preferred, but not required.

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 25% of the time.
