Supplier Quality Engineer - Automotive Interiors

Overview

We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to support supplier manufacturing readiness and ongoing production quality for automotive interior components. This role is responsible for ensuring supplier compliance with quality, delivery, capacity, and warranty expectations while supporting new product launches and continuous improvement initiatives. The position serves as the primary technical interface with suppliers to resolve manufacturing and quality issues while helping maintain uninterrupted production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement commodity-specific quality plans to support launch readiness, product quality, manufacturing capacity, warranty performance, and on-time delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams and supplier leadership to resolve manufacturing and quality issues.
  • Lead supplier issue resolution activities, including troubleshooting, containment, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Support uninterrupted production by proactively addressing supplier-related risks.
  • Monitor supplier compliance with established quality and operational standards.
  • Conduct manufacturing feasibility assessments to evaluate supplier readiness for production launches.
  • Lead and support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities.
  • Analyze supplier performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities and support quality initiatives.
  • Participate in supplier development activities to improve manufacturing capability and long-term performance.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in advanced manufacturing, advanced quality, process planning, implementation, or launch of automotive interior manufacturing systems.
  • Experience with automotive interior components such as:
    • Seats
    • Instrument Panels (IP)
    • Consoles
    • Headliners
    • Door Panels
    • Restraint Systems
    • Seat Structures
  • Experience with one or more of the following manufacturing processes:
    • Stamping
    • Welding
    • Plastic Welding
    • Plastic/Rubber Molding
    • Blow Molding
    • Automated or Manual Assembly
    • Controls Automation Programming
    • Paint
    • Chroming
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, and quality systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 70% to supplier locations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Automotive industry experience.
  • Experience with supplier quality standards and manufacturing quality systems.
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
