About This Role

Socomec Group is a global leader in electrical equipment engineering and manufacturing, specialized in low voltage energy performance. Socomec NAM is the organization overseeing all operations in North America. The Quality Engineer Supplier will initially be responsible for both supplier quality and product quality. This role ensures that all products are reviewed, validated, and approved from suppliers in alignment with product standards including design, mechanical, electrical, and packaging requirements. It also assesses supplier operational processes to ensure compliance with manufacturing specifications, company standards, and industry standards. In addition, this role ensures that all supplier parts are assembled and manufactured according to design intent. As part of the Advanced Product Quality Process team, this is a broad role focused on achieving and maintaining high levels of quality across both supplier activities and in process manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities

Supplier Quality
Create or assist in creating PPAP requirements for commodity specific suppliers
Review, validate, and approve supplier PPAP submissions
Monitor new product introduction deliverables for supplier sourcing and approval processes
Drive approval of supplier parts, materials, and subcontractor service activities in coordination with cross functional teams
Ensure supplier qualification processes are executed fully and that suppliers remain qualified and compliant
Ensure supplier nonconformances are identified, controlled, investigated, and resolved with effective corrective actions
Oversee supplier quality function and establish quality control objectives
Lead supplier assessments and drive corrective and preventive actions based on supplier performance and maturity
Maintain supplier quality records
Promote early supplier involvement in product development to improve quality, delivery, cost, and risk outcomes
Support supply chain in evaluating new and existing suppliers from a quality perspective
Review supplier documentation including certifications and technical data to ensure compliance
Participate in continuous improvement, problem solving, and cross functional collaboration

Product Quality
Conduct testing and validation to ensure products, systems, or software meet requirements and customer expectations across incoming inspection, manufacturing, test labs, and final inspection
Drive root cause analysis and problem solving activities in collaboration with cross functional teams
Support engineering in developing test protocols for new products or product updates
Ensure all nonconformances are identified, controlled, and resolved
Review customer and supplier documentation to ensure compliance with company requirements
Support reduction of manufacturing errors
Evaluate quality issues from a customer or stakeholder perspective
Collaborate to resolve issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions

Improvement
Provide feedback to engineering and research and development on product and process improvements
Evaluate test performance and improve testing methods for efficiency and effectiveness
Apply lessons learned from field issues to improve testing and product performance
Perform quality system audits

Safety
Promote employee engagement in safety programs and risk prevention activities
Follow safety systems and procedures to maintain a safe work environment
Identify unsafe conditions and collaborate with HSE teams to improve safety practices

Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, or Metallurgical Engineering
May be substituted with eight years of relevant industry experience with direct process knowledge
Minimum of eight years of manufacturing related experience
Experience in documentation creation including procedures and inspection plans
Understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning concepts
Experience with quality inspection and root cause analysis tools such as nonconformance, corrective action requests, and problem solving methods
Experience with ISO9001 and ISO14001 quality and environmental systems
Ability to read technical drawings and knowledge of GD&T is desirable
Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or similar methodologies is desirable
Strong communication, decision making, and problem solving skills

Valid unrestricted driver's license
Ability to travel domestically and internationally with valid passport
Availability for business travel required
Additional language skills are an asset

Compensation range: $90,000 - $95,000 USD
