Supervisory IT Project Managers specializing in Software perform the following functions:
- Lead software development projects from planning through delivery by organizing tasks, timelines, and resources, building workable schedules, breaking down work, tracking progress, identifying risks, and keeping leadership informed.
- Design, build, and maintain software applications by translating customer needs into technical requirements, managing major components through their lifecycle, and supporting updates and integrations.
- Assign work based on skills and priorities while providing training, feedback, and guidance on both technical and administrative tasks to support staff development.
- Ensure software meets quality standards and functional requirements by applying QA/QC practices, validating functionality, and resolving defects through repeatable processes.
- Communicate goals, progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leaders and partners, delivering clear presentations that translate technical topics into accessible information.

QualificationsQualification requirements include meeting minimum proficiency levels for required competencies and demonstrating one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, i.e. GS-13, in the Federal Service.

- Demonstrated experience leading Agile application development projects including setting technical direction, reviewing development work, and ensuring successful software delivery, while providing ongoing mentoring to junior developers to strengthen skills and ensure code quality.
