Summary

About the Position: The incumbent will serve as the Deputy Chief of Police who is responsible for law enforcement operations with supervision of law enforcement patrols that function 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  • Oversee and direct work of the Police Division.
  • Specifically responsible for ensuring accuracy and compliance with existing policies and procedures regarding police operations and administration.
  • Perform duties as the senior on duty supervisory DA Police Law Enforcement Officer within the Division, assist and guide the activities of subordinates engaged in law enforcement work.
  • Direct the activities of 50-60 civilians and contract support personnel to include monitoring progress of major projects.
  • Make decisions on project priorities to meet changing requirements
  • Identify problem areas and makes necessary changes in policies and procedures to correct deficiencies and to meet short and long range objectives.

  • Subject to random urinalysis testing in accordance with AR 190-56.
  • Maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Position is designated as a "Key Position" in accordance with AR 690-8.
  • Required to pass the Physical Ability Test (PAT) within 90 days of being hired and annually thereafter.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-09 grade level which includes: Planning, directing, and reviewing the activities of police officers; assigning work to subordinate police officers; observing and evaluating the work performance of police officers; Participating in investigations; utilizing basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and/or techniques involved for maintaining order and protecting life and property.
