Recognized as the Air Force authority on operations research, providing expert guidance and advice to Air Force headquarters staff, major command (MAJCOM) activities, and/or other agencies. Exercises 2nd level (or higher) technical and administrative supervisory personnel management responsibilities for 25% or more during duty time. Employs scientific and analytical techniques to define and evaluate the feasibility of assigned projects, studies or problems. Reviews and evaluates study projects, proposals, and/or reports for adequacy of methodology, including the use or development of computerized models, ensuring the techniques used are valid and appropriate to the problem or issue identified. Serves as a consultant and Air Force level technical expert to senior subject matter specialists and/or agency officials responsible for broad program operations. Attends meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to program planning, advanced technologies, and support system concepts. Additional Position Requirements: 1. A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution in mathematics, computer science, one of the physical sciences, engineering or a closely-related scientific discipline is highly desired. Advanced degree(s) are preferred. 2. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. 3. Must exhibit a high degree of judgment, resourcefulness, originality, and the ability to foresee the impact of changing technology. 4. May be required to acquire and maintain a security clearance. 5. This position has been designated as a Non-Critical Acquisition Position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The selectee must meet or be capable of achieving the APDP certification as designated on the position description within the defined grace period for that certification level after assignment. This position also requires the employee to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities, achieving 80 Continuous Learning points every 24 months. Ability to recognize and use correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling, communicate information in writing in a succinct and organized manner, and produce written information, including technical material, which is appropriate for the intended audience. 6. Ability to develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques. 7. Ability to design, build, and use models and simulation techniques.
