- Assigning work requirements to subordinate team members for new or changed programs, functions, goals, and processes.
- Developing guidelines, standards, and/or procedures for analyzing public needs, demands, site carrying capacities and resource capabilities.
- Planning and leading the construction for the rehabilitation of campsites, picnic sites, roads, and associated structures in the recreation areas.
- Responds to correspondence and inquiries from the public and internal/external stakeholders.
- Preparing budget estimates for personnel, equipment and/or materials for various projects.

Basic Requirement for the supervisory natural resources management specialist:A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes meeting all of the following: 1) Coordinating and assigning daily natural resource management and/or recreational activities, 2) Communicating with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with operational safety requirements and/or alignment with resource management objectives, and 3) Developing programs to protect and further public safety, physical security, emergency readiness and/or wildlife management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
