Summary

About the Position: Is with theU.S. Army Research and Development Center (ERDC), Environmental Laboratory. As Chief you will be responsible for developing, planning and executing a program of highly interdisciplinary ecosystem and ecological research incorporating civil engineering, electrical engineering, physical science, botany, ecology, biology, wildlife biology, and archeology.

Help

  • Responsible for developing, planning and executing a program of highly interdisciplinary ecosystem and ecological researchers
  • Establishes and maintains an outstanding capability responsive to problems involving the effects of military and civil works activities of all kinds on the environment
  • Provides overall direction to branch research projects
  • Makes assignments and gives technical instructions to team leaders, establishes constraints and priorities, and makes decisions as necessary to guide and control the work
  • Supervises project planning and scheduling to satisfy all concerned from both economic and technical points of view
  • Reviews proposals and scopes of work developed by branch personnel and directs and manages field, laboratory, and administrative work
  • Participates in conferences with superiors, sponsoring officials, consultants, and others for reports on progress, discussion of general and specific problems, formulation of plans

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above to qualify for this position, you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes scoping, planning and leading technical and financial aspects multidisciplinary research activities; scheduling, budgeting, and resourcing research of systems and processes related to developing new technology; developing, managing, and executing programs comprised of multiple projects; defending program budgets to higher authorities; and experience conducting research in the areas of environmental science, environmental engineering, ecology, ecological restoration, aquatic plant control or similar field. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DB-04 (GS-14).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DB-XXXX-05 (equivalent to GS-15). In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1998, Laboratory Demonstration Project employees must have a current average performance score of at least 2.5 or equivalent (fully successful rating) for promotion consideration

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (DB-04/GS-14).
