Summary

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the WORK CONTROL AND TEST ENGINEERING DIVISION (CODE 246) of the ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

Help

  • You will formulate an integrated test or work control schedule.
  • You will plan a total Work Control or Test Program for ship assigned utilizing the Ship's Availability Work Package and schedules.
  • You will prepare detailed test procedures based on NAVSEA derived specifications.
  • You will assist the Chief Test Engineer in planning for sea trials and act as the Assistant Shipyard Test Director during such trials.
  • You will direct the work activities of a group of personnel which varies in number due to the length of the assigned ship's availability.
  • You will assign work based on difficulty and capabilities of employees and evaluate their work and performance

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This position requires work onboard ships.
  • This position requires walking, climbing, stooping, crawling and bending.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.


Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: executing and managing a work control and/or test program (e.g. formulating an integrated test or work control schedule, coordinating and directing all authorized testing through test directors, coordinating and processing WAFs and tagouts, working with project management, ship's force, and other shipyard codes to manage the work control or test programs, acting as a member of the Joint Test Group) for integrated ship systems.
