Job SummaryLeads a team of land rights professionals responsible for researching, analyzing, and managing company property interests. This role oversees complex title research, reviews land-related legal documents, and provides leadership in resolving ownership, easement, and property rights issues that support the company's operational and strategic objectives.
Essential Functions• Lead, coach, and develop a team of land rights and title professionals, including employees, contractors, and external resources, while performing a full range of supervisory, administrative, and performance management responsibilities.
• Direct complex title and property rights research using public records, internal systems, and third-party resources to determine ownership, easement rights, encumbrances, and other land interests.
• Review and approve title reports, abstracts, deeds, easements, licenses, agreements, and related legal documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legal and corporate requirements.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor on a broad range of property rights, title, easement, and land management issues.
• Collaborate with attorneys, surveyors, engineers, environmental specialists, title insurers, governmental agencies, and other stakeholders to resolve title defects, ownership disputes, easement conflicts, and complex land rights matters.
• Establish priorities, manage workloads, and ensure the timely delivery of land and title services in support of operational and strategic business objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement by enhancing research methodologies, business processes, and technology solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and service delivery.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and professional development in title research, title curative, property law, land rights management, and industry best practices.
• Lead and participate in cross-functional initiatives that support operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and the effective management of company real estate assets.
• Promote and uphold a strong safety culture while ensuring the responsible stewardship of company property interests and the protection of employees, customers, and the public around utility facilities.
• Provides supervision, development, coaching and mentoring guidance to division personnel. Exercises disciplinary actions when necessary.
Education Description- Preferred Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a technical discipline related to land surveying, civil engineering, right of way, land management or a related field, from an accredited college or university.
- In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an Associate's Degree or High School Graduate or GED will consider a combination of education and related experience in real estate, right of way acquisition, easement document preparation, document management, land and title research totaling five (5) years.
Experience• 5 years of relevant work experience required in land-related activities (such as commercial real estate, land rights acquisition and/or land related land management), with an understanding of land transactions, legal documents, metes & bounds descriptions, land titles, abstracts, surveying, and GIS.
