Accountable for day-to-day activities in the assigned rehabilitation services area(s). Plans, coordinates, and directs daily activities, supervises the work of assigned rehabilitation professionals. Provides management support as needed for rehabilitation disciplines. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

Accountable for day-to-day activities in the assigned rehabilitation services area(s). Plans, coordinates, and directs daily activities, supervises the work of assigned rehabilitation professionals. Provides management support as needed for rehabilitation disciplines. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

What you will do
  • Accountable for day-to-day activities in the assigned rehabilitation services area. Plans, coordinates, and directs daily activities, ensures reliability and availability of equipment and supplies.
  • Supervises the work of rehab professionals engaged in providing rehabilitative therapy.
  • Recommends various personnel actions including hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, and corrective actions.
  • Assists with orientation of new associates, on-going training and continuing competency development of rehab associates.
  • Makes recommendations and assists with development of budgets. Monitors budgets and expenses in assigned area.
  • Plans and schedules work to ensure adequate staffing based on workload and productivity standards.
  • Provides advanced problem solving, troubleshooting, technical assistance, and instruction in assigned area(s).
  • Performs other administrative functions in support of department operations, as assigned.
  • Performs the duties of a therapist, as needed.

Education/Formal Training Requirements
  • Required - Bachelor's Degree Physical Therapy
  • Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Audiology
  • Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Occupational Therapy
  • Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Speech Pathology

Work Experience Requirements
  • Required - Rehab therapy 3-5 years
  • Preferred - Rehabilitation

Licenses and Certifications Requirements
  • Required - Speech Pathologist Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Communications Disorders and Sciences
  • Preferred - Physical Therapist - Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Physical Therapy

  • Demonstrates knowledge of rehabilitation service modalities, practices, procedures, and regulatory standards gained through work related experience.
  • Ability to understand and prepare complex written materials.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of Associates, management, physicians, and patients and their families.
  • Ability to lead and motivate individuals and groups of people toward the accomplishment of work and organizational goals.
  • Skill in negotiating with and between individuals and groups of people, including Associates, management and physicians.
  • Ability to plan and schedule tasks and projects and to maintain control of own and others' work flow.
  • Skill in developing and implementing long-range plans and programs.
  • Ability to work without close supervision or professional guidance and to exercise independent judgment.

Supervision Provided by this Position
  • Provides direct and/or indirect supervision for Associates and students assigned to the department.

Physical Demands
  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
