Qualifications

• 3-5 years of health and safety or transportation compliance experience in field-based operations.
• Preferably experienced in solid waste, landfill, construction, mining, or another heavy industrial environment.
• Knowledge of OSHA and DOT/FMCSA requirements; ability to learn local Ohio regulations.
• General familiarity with OEPA and JCGHD requirements related to landfill operations and environmental safety is preferred.
• Experience in conducting field observations, safety audits, and incident investigations.
• Understanding of common hazards in landfill operations and heavy equipment interactions.
• Strong communication, coaching, analytical, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Promote and communicate safety policies effectively throughout the landfill.
• Maintain a visible presence on-site to monitor safety across various operational areas.
• Conduct regular safety observations, audits, and document findings for corrective actions.
• Collaborate with leadership to manage heavy equipment and pedestrian safety controls.
• Ensure compliance with job safety standards, operating procedures, and hazard controls before work starts.
• Lead new-hire safety orientation and facilitate regular safety training sessions.
• Investigate safety incidents and prepare accurate reports for management.
