POSITION OVERVIEWThe Maintenance Supervisor - Heavy Mobile Equipment is responsible for leading the safe and efficient execution of preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities for the mine's heavy mobile equipment fleet. This role oversees daily maintenance operations, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with operational priorities.
The Maintenance Supervisor provides leadership to maintenance personnel, coordinates resources, manages contractor activities, and works closely with mine operations to maximize equipment availability and reliability while maintaining cost control and compliance with company safety standards.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES- Maintenance Execution: Supervise and coordinate daily preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities for heavy mobile mining equipment.
- Work Planning & Scheduling: Execute the maintenance plan, monitor work schedules, and ensure maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and on time.
- Leadership & Supervision: Lead, coach, mentor, and develop maintenance personnel while fostering a safe, productive, and accountable work environment.
- Equipment Reliability: Monitor equipment performance and availability, identifying opportunities to improve reliability and maintenance effectiveness.
- Operational Coordination: Communicate regularly with mine operations to align maintenance priorities and minimize equipment downtime.
- Contractor Management: Coordinate and oversee contractor and vendor activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with site requirements.
- Cost Control: Manage labor, materials, and maintenance resources to support budget and cost control objectives.
- Safety & Compliance: Promote and enforce all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while ensuring work is performed safely and in accordance with company standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Support initiatives that improve maintenance processes, equipment performance, and team effectiveness.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in industrial or mining mobile equipment maintenance.
- Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment is preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively supervise, coach, and develop maintenance personnel.
- Thorough knowledge of maintenance principles and practices for heavy mobile loading, hauling, and drilling equipment.
- Experience executing maintenance plans and achieving operational performance targets.
- Ability to effectively coordinate maintenance activities with mine operations to maximize equipment availability.
- Experience managing contractors and external service providers.
- Working knowledge of maintenance and fleet management systems such as SAP, MineStar, Modular, or Wenco is preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS- Regularly work in both field and shop environments.
- Walk and stand for extended periods on uneven terrain and industrial work surfaces.
- Climb stairs, ladders, and access heavy equipment as required.
- Frequently bend, kneel, squat, stoop, and work in confined or restricted spaces.
- Lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work in varying weather conditions, including hot, cold, humid, and dusty environments.
- May be required to respond to emergency maintenance situations outside of normal working hours.
All candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol test, and background check. All positions require a pre-placement physical examination to ensure candidates are 'fit for duty'. Additional training and/or testing may be required.
