Job Overview

The Math Supervisor is responsible for the organization, operation, and coordination for the K-12 Math program for Loudoun County Public Schools.

Roles and Responsibilities

The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.
  • Aligns mathematics vision and goals with the LCPS Instructional Framework, division strategic plan, and VDOE requirements.
  • Prepares reports, attends School Board meetings, serves on committees, and assists in annual budget development as assigned.
  • Provides leadership for curriculum design, resource adoption, and instructional programming in K-12 mathematics.
  • Collaborates with the Division of English Learners and the Department of Student Services to ensure curriculum adaptations, alternative strategies, and MTSS-aligned interventions.
  • Oversees development and evaluation of specialized programming, including LCPS Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics (BEAM) Summer Discovery, to expand access and pathways to advanced coursework.
  • Designs, coordinates, and delivers professional learning for teachers, interventionists, and resource staff to strengthen instructional practice and student support.
  • Supports Division and School-Based Math Resource Teachers in coaching, identifying student learning gaps, implementing interventions, and monitoring progress.
  • Builds the capacity of principals and school leaders to support effective mathematics instruction
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of mathematics programs through analysis of student performance data and instructional practices.
  • Identifies needs, develops improvement plans, and ensures continuous program refinement.
  • Communicates with teachers, principals, families, and community partners to provide resources and respond to requests.
  • Engages with professional organizations and state agencies to remain informed of research, trends, and policy in math education and shares key updates with staff.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning or the appropriate director.

Five (5) years of progressive overall education experience in teaching, supervision, administration

Licenses and Certifications

Holds or is eligible for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement in PK-12 administration and supervision

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of state and federal statutes, regulations, and rules relating to instruction, curriculum and student learning
  • Knowledge of the needs of adult learners
  • Ability to advise interested parties on laws and rules relating to areas of responsibility
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with administrators and teachers
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to effectively manage time, organize work and meet deadlines
