*This is a 2nd shift supervisor position, hours are 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM, M-Fr*

Job Summary:

The Supervisor, Materials Management is responsible for leading warehouse operations, inventory control, and material flow activities to support production and customer requirements. Reporting to the Sr. Warehouse Operations Manager, this role oversees shift execution, ensures inventory accuracy, and drives alignment across production, planning, and logistics functions.

This position plays a key role in maintaining efficient operations, resolving issues in real time, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service levels, operational performance, and inventory management processes.

Job Model: On-Site

All fully remote positions have no regular expected onsite scheduled days. Fully remote employees may be required to come onsite due to business needs.

Hybrid positions will require employees to work both on-site and remote each week under a schedule that has been determined and agreed upon by you and your manager.

On-Site positions will require employees to work on-site for each of their scheduled shifts.

Responsibilities:
  • Consistent, regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Leads warehouse operations during designated shift, including inventory control, material handling, and production support, ensuring safe, efficient, and on-time execution of daily activities
  • Set daily priorities and coordinate activities across production, planning, and logistics to ensure material availability and uninterrupted operations
  • Own inventory accuracy across the value stream, including cycle counts, physical inventories, transaction integrity, and discrepancy resolution
  • Investigate inventory variances, lead root cause analysis, and implement sustainable corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Ensure compliance with FIFO, lot traceability, quality requirements, and all internal control standards
  • Manage material flow from receiving through production and finished goods, including movements between internal and external warehouse locations
  • Partner with logistics providers and external warehouses to ensure accurate inventory visibility and efficient transportation of goods
  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with planning and purchasing to optimize supply balancing, improve service levels, and reduce excess or obsolete inventory
  • Own and drive key performance indicators such as inventory accuracy, service levels, material availability, and working capital performance
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean, Six Sigma, and 6S efforts, to eliminate waste and improve material flow and productivity
  • Act as the subject matter expert for inventory and material flow in cross-functional projects and value stream initiatives
  • Maintain accurate and timely ERP transactions related to inventory movements, production orders, and warehouse activities
  • Develop and maintain standard work, procedures, and documentation to ensure consistency and compliance
  • Foster a high-performing, engaged team environment aligned with company values, with a focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Oversees team of material handlers and inventory personnel.
  • Leads, coaches, and develops a team to achieve departmental and organizational objectives by providing clear direction, expectations, and updates on priorities and progress.
  • Provides timely ongoing performance feedback, conducts performance reviews, and supports employee development planning.
  • Fosters an inclusive, engaged, and high-performing team environment while embracing Chesterton's core values.
  • Ensures team adherence to company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Initiates and partners with HR to review and update direct reports' job descriptions, ensuring clarity in roles, expectations, and leveling.
  • Effectively conducts sensitive employee discussions, including compensation-related conversations and disciplinary actions, with sound judgment and professionalism.
  • Communicates & collaborates effectively across functions, levels and teams within the organization while supporting and driving departmental initiatives.

  • Responsible for making day-to-day operational decisions that impact safety, service levels, inventory accuracy, and production continuity.
  • Requires strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to resolve inventory discrepancies, material flow disruptions, and resource constraints, while determining when escalation is necessary.
  • Influences cross-functional partners in production, planning, purchasing, and logistics without direct authority to ensure alignment and execution of business objectives.
  • Partner effectively across functions and leadership levels to support operational goals and broader business initiatives

Education and/or Experience:
  • 4 - 6 years in warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing operations required.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, material flow, and ERP transactions
  • Experience supporting production environments, multi-site or external warehouse coordination preferred.
  • Lean / Six Sigma experience preferred.

Targeted pay range: $87,000 - $92,000/annually depending on experience
