Supervisor, Distribution Center

Opportunity

Kohler Co. is seeking a Warehouse Operations Supervisor to join the Wisconsin Distribution Center (WIDC), where this role will lead the put-away, replenishment, picking, and inventory operations for Kitchen & Bath finished goods while managing a team of approximately 20-40 associates in a fast-paced, unionized environment. Reporting to the General Supervisor - Logistics, the Supervisor plays a hands-on leadership role balancing daily execution with safety, quality, delivery, cost, and 5S expectations, while partnering closely with Maintenance, HR, Safety, IT/WMS, Customer Service, and other Distribution Center leaders. This position offers the opportunity to influence staffing, workflow, training, and performance management, actively participate in safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts, and leverage WMS data and standard work practices to drive efficient, safe, and reliable distribution operations.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the put away, replenishment, picking, and inventory of finished products.
  • Determine, with the General Supervisor, where product is to be stored and change procedures as required to suit the inventory mix.
  • Assign personnel daily, in the most favorable economic advantage, to perform tasks required to meet shipping schedules and production deliveries.
  • Control the input of data in the Warehouse Management System, as required to meet daily processing needs.
  • Under the direction of the General Supervisor, train an efficient and adequate workforce to meet all storage and retrieval requirements.
  • Support standard work measurement programs, training employees in proper reporting techniques required, auditing job elements, and issuing change of operations notices as needed.
  • Ensure good housekeeping to protect products and maintain an orderly work environment.
  • Maintain storage and material handling equipment in good, safe, operating condition, make regular visual inspections and initiate orders for repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Evaluate performance of subordinates and provide regular feedback. Enforces all company policies and guidelines of which the most frequent are safety, personnel, and housekeeping.
  • Prepares all time, production, and usage reports pertinent to operations as directed. May be required to prepare other special reports or perform other duties or work on special projects as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Assist or substitute for other Distribution Center Supervisors on vacation or due to sick days.
  • Prepare and maintain reports such as Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and 5S.
  • Perform any and all other duties and projects as required by Supervision.
  • Participate in safety initiatives such as wall-to-wall inspections, support program management/updates, incident investigations, safety training and accident prevention, day to day safety and new equipment process approval, Kaizen events, safety teams, allocate funds for safety equipment and initiatives, and return to work program.
  • All other duties as assigned by WIDC Leadership


Skills/Requirements

  • High School Degree, GED or equivalent required
  • Associate degree, Technical diploma or Equivalent Exp. Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Preferred 3-5+ years of distribution experience or equivalent professional experience in a comparable role
  • Has the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Has basic Computer Skills, with the ability to understand/learn new programs
  • Safety conscious, team player, and company oriented with the capability of making and carrying out sound decisions on his/her own
  • WMS (Blue Yonder/JDA) experience preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Experience with automation preferred

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation.
