Position: Supervising Pharmacist

What You'll (Primarily) Do:- Exercise sound professional judgement in assuming responsibility for the medication use process and for patient outcomes, following pre-established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Oversee the efficient dispensing, processing, and recording of prescriptions issued by physicians, dentists, and/or other authorized healthcare providers.
- Communicate with providers to optimize drug therapy in accordance with approved protocols and current practice.
- Confer with and assist medical personnel in the care and treatment of patients.
- Monitor patients' drug therapy and provides drug information to patients and healthcare providers.
- Screen medication orders for correctness, incompatibilities, and contraindications; communicate problems to patients, nursing staff, and/or physicians.
- Based on an understanding of patient variables including but not limited to age, sex, and other physical characteristics, monitor the medication therapy of hospitalized or ambulatory patients as assigned.
- Provide medication information and pharmacokinetic dosing advice.
- Ensure that the pharmacy provides the optimal drug therapy to patients as evidenced by proper drug selection, dose, route, duration of therapy, and cost effectiveness.
- Suggest therapeutic and cost-effective substitutions while maintaining quality of service.
- Maintain awareness of medication change information, new products, and state and federal regulations.
- Exhibit a high degree of courtesy, tact, and poise when interacting with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Adjust to fluctuating peaks in patient flow, acuity, and other operational demands while maintaining quality.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
- Ensure compliance with legal issues including but not limited to patient confidentiality and risk management; ensures compliance with accreditation, federal, state, and local regulations.
- Oversee and direct pharmacy technical staff in the execution of technical functions.
- In coordination with Company Leadership, understand, monitor and increase key performance and financial indicators to drive value
- Grow and develop team members
- Understand the "pulse" of the team to ensure our CATER values and culture remain healthy
Requirements
What We're Looking For:- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)
- Must be currently licensed to practice in New York (additional state licenses a plus)
- Minimum two years related experience or equivalent.
- Current knowledge of pharmacological/biopharmaceutical principles and medical terminology.
- Thorough knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding the provision of pharmaceutical services.
- Demonstrated competence in reacting to and handling emergencies.
- Able to work collaboratively with multiple health professionals in a busy and complex environment using tact, diplomacy, and discipline.
- Ability to understand, adhere to and help improve established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Demonstrated proficiency in supervising, motivating and growing other pharmacy staff

Salary Description
Approx $135,000 - $145,000
