Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:

Tahoma Construction Services (TCS), a general contracting subsidiary of Puyallup Tribal Enterprises, is looking for an experienced Superintendent to join our dynamic and growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing all field operations of commercial, hospitality, and multifamily construction projects. The Superintendent is the jobsite leader and responsible for upholding the TCS safety, quality, budgeting, and ethical standards. Excellent scheduling, time management skills, and the ability to collaborate with project stakeholders is necessary for the position. Prior experience with Tribal or government projects a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Set up project at commencement of build, including temporary erosion and sediment control, security, site logistics, utilities installation and maintaining all BMP's
  • Responsible for jobsite safety, enforcement of company safety policies with suppliers and team members, and adherence to Labor and Industries requirements; this includes conducting weekly safety walks, maintaining jobsite safety binders, and conducting safety meetings as required
  • Prepare and maintain 6-week look ahead schedule to meet Critical Path Method (CMP) schedule milestone dates
  • Ensure that the project is constructed to the standards established by TCS
  • Create and maintain an Inspection Log for tracking all required inspects for Certificate of Occupancy
  • Schedule all inspections with governing authorities to ensure timely approvals of construction progress
  • Maintain and update Construction Documents on site resulting in Current Plan Set and all Requests for Information (RFI's), Submittals, etc. available to project stakeholders through construction
  • Review all shop drawings and submittals as required to expedite submittal process
  • Prepare and submit RFI's to Design Team/Owner/Team Members as required to manage plan discrepancies
  • Prepare and lead weekly subcontractor coordination meeting and schedule review.
  • Provide technical support to subcontractors; assist in interpretation, layout and dimensional questions
  • Responsible for the inspection of trades completed work to ensure scopes of work are completed in a quality fashion and within the duration allowed
  • Must meet production deadlines; strategizes planning and coordination of project delivery with both field and office staff
  • Applies expertise in identifying problems or discrepancies in approved plans and works collaboratively to make corrections
  • Works to identify improvement opportunities that lead to increases in quality and efficiency
  • Manages and mentors assistant superintendents and other assigned staff
  • Participate in analysis of and discussions on cost over runs, subcontractor/supplier issues, broken or damaged deliveries and field purchase orders
  • Responsible for the overall appearance of the jobsite, which should be clean and organized
  • Ensure site facilities and equipment are functional, maintained, and safe
  • Identify opportunities for improvements, identify potential areas of risk, and share information with key stakeholders to maximize results throughout TCS
  • Use all company resources efficiently to promote maximum financial results for TCS; maintain TCS equipment and assets to maximize return on investment
  • Establish and maintain effective business relationships with all employees, vendors, business partners, government/regulatory entities, and communities in which we operate
  • Strictly follow workplace safety measures; safeguard the welfare of all employees, guests, visitors, and business partners at all times; promptly report workplace risks, incidents, injuries, and near misses
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all sensitive and proprietary business information, and safeguard TCS assets at all times


REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • WA state's license and good driving record
  • 10+ years experience with commercial and multi-family construction experience
  • 5+ years supervisory experience related to staff and subcontractor management
  • Strong overall management, planning, problem solving and negotiation skills to meet milestone and completion deadlines
  • Ability to effectively delegate and track work assignment to completion
  • Self-driven and ability to plan and work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Strong computer proficiency, specifically Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Project, Procore and Bluebeam
  • Ability to read plans and specs
  • Ability to plan and maintain site logistics plans
  • Ability to make wise decisions using effectual mix of analysis, experience, and judgment
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment and tools
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English, including public speaking
  • Relates well to all people, diplomatic /gracious; builds good relationships without compromising results

  • Uncompromising integrity and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Ability to occasionally work non-standard hours to accommodate business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to pass background check

Preferred
  • Experience with Tribal and/or government projects, contracts, procurement and/or project management
  • BA/BS Degree in Construction or related industry
