In this position, you will work closely with project managers, directors and other Quiring team members to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and on time. You'll be key to identifying challenges, solving problems, and delivering quality results that help build the communities we serve. We're looking for someone with approximately two years of experience in an Assistant Superintendent or equivalent role in construction, a strong understanding of construction methods and materials, and proficiency in project scheduling software. A Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but hands-on experience is equally valued. Job Description Details

General Overview:

The Superintendent plays a pivotal role in the coordinating, planning, scheduling, and overseeing the work of the trade partners and Quiring General laborers on construction projects. This position is responsible for creating project schedules, with a clear critical path to ensure timely project completion. The Superintendent works closely with the Senior Superintendent, if assigned, and Director to ensure that projects are completed successfully, safely, and efficiently, while maintaining high-quality standards. The Superintendent is responsible for the creation and maintenance of a safe working environment at the construction site. The Superintendent will provide direction on the work of laborers and trade partners.

Description of Responsibilities:
  • Lead project execution through deep understanding of plans, specifications, and contracts.
  • Oversee construction scheduling and updates, including master and short-term look-ahead schedules, to support timely progress and coordination with the project team.
  • Coordinate inspections and verify compliance with jurisdictional and project-specific requirements.
  • Resolve constructability issues and lead field implementation of design.
  • Participate in scope development and support the buyout process.
  • Lead, supervise, mentor, and evaluate assigned project staff, such as Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and interns, fostering career development and effective teamwork.
  • Manage tool and equipment use and ensure efficient resource allocation.
  • Direct subcontractor work, ensuring compliance with contracts, quality, schedule, and safety requirements.
  • Oversee subcontractor documentation including insurance, licensing, and T&M verification.
  • Lead and finalize punch list processes and ensure resolution of field issues.
  • Maintain comprehensive field documentation and verify accurate records.
  • Coordinate field input for change order processing and approvals; ensuring approvals are obtained before execution.
  • Lead quality control efforts to ensure all work meets the required standards and is properly documented.
  • Direct project closeout activities, documentation, and reporting.
  • Oversee safety planning and compliance; work with Safety Manager to proactively mitigate risks.
  • Represent field operations in key project meetings and report progress to the Project Manager and Director.
  • Active participation and execution of Quiring's Safety Program to maintain a healthy and injury-free work environment.
  • Participation in training and company meetings as appropriate to support individual and organizational growth.
  • Contributes to team and client relationship development through effective communication and collaboration.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

This position is assigned to an active construction site. There will be regular and daily exposure to hazardous materials, noisy environments, and weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, rain, and wind. PPE, including hard hats, protective eye wear and appropriate footwear is required to be worn while on the active site.

Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience (generally 5 plus years) in an Assistant Superintendent or field leadership role in the construction field, including risk mitigation procedures.
  • Ability to lead, create, and support team morale.
  • Ability to strategize, solve problems, and plan.
  • Ability to quickly identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (Vista or similar), scheduling software (Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar), and BIM Software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, or similar). Familiarity with Bluebeam, Building Connected, ProEst.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license.

Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business or related field
