About the Position

The Traveling Superintendent will provide hands-on leadership for Class A commercial office tenant improvement and interior construction projects nationwide.

This individual will be responsible for managing all field operations on assigned projects, ensuring work is completed according to plans and specifications, while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, schedule, and client satisfaction.

Projects will typically involve sophisticated commercial interiors and tenant improvements. Travel will range from regional assignments to projects across the country, often requiring extended overnight stays. Candidates ideally will live within approximately 50-100 miles of one of the company's offices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all field operations and personnel on assigned commercial interior projects.
  • Manage subcontractors, vendors, laborers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate daily construction activities to ensure work progresses according to the project schedule.
  • Ensure materials, equipment, tools, information, and manpower are available when needed.
  • Review plans, specifications, schedules, and other project documentation.
  • Direct subcontractor activities and coordinate multiple trades on active jobsites.
  • Maintain daily reports, time sheets, safety documentation, accident reports, and other required project records.
  • Monitor jobsite progress, quality, safety, and productivity.
  • Conduct site walks and identify potential quality or schedule issues before they impact the project.
  • Participate in pre-punch walks and help ensure an efficient and timely punch-list process.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and the client team to resolve field issues.
  • Provide proactive leadership and independent decision-making when unexpected challenges arise.
  • Maintain strong communication with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
  • Represent the company professionally and contribute to its reputation for exceptional client service.
  • Support and mentor other Superintendents and field personnel as needed.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or a degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred.
  • Significant experience as a Lead Superintendent on commercial interior, tenant improvement, retail, or building renovation projects.
  • Ideally 10+ years of commercial construction Superintendent experience, with substantial experience independently leading projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage commercial projects valued at approximately $10 million or more.
  • Strong understanding of Class A office tenant improvements and commercial interior construction.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors and trades while maintaining schedule and quality expectations.
  • OSHA 30 certification required.
  • OSHA Competent Person training preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and jobsite compliance.
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationwide, including extended overnight stays.
  • Ideally located within 50-100 miles of a company office.
