About the role

Adjudicate and completely document the suitability and best interest of annuity sales, transfers, replacements, or exchanges according to Symetra's suitability guidelines. As needed, communicate and collaborate with financial professionals, their customers, distribution partners, and internal key stakeholders such as Law, Compliance, Sales, and New Business.

What you will do
  • Review new annuity sales, transfers, replacements, and exchanges to determine whether transactions meet Symetra's suitability and best interest standards, ensuring recommendations align with customer needs, objectives, and financial circumstances.
  • Analyze application and suitability documentation submitted by financial professionals and distribution partners, assessing customer profiles, investment objectives, risk tolerance, liquidity needs, and product appropriateness.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations and make independent suitability determinations, documenting findings and decisions in accordance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and best interest guidelines.
  • Collaborate directly with financial professionals to obtain additional information, clarify documentation, and resolve questions necessary to complete suitability and best interest reviews.
  • Interview applicants when necessary to validate information, confirm understanding of product features, and assess whether recommendations are appropriate for the customer's financial situation.
  • Identify transactions that require additional scrutiny and escalating complex, high-risk, or exception cases to senior reviewers or management for further evaluation.
  • Partner with New Business, Sales, Compliance, and Operations teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of suitability reviews while maintaining a positive customer and advisor experience.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, strengthen controls, improve customer outcomes, and support ongoing regulatory compliance efforts.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of reviews, decisions, and supporting documentation to ensure audit readiness and adherence to internal and external requirements.

  • You have a strong understanding of insurance and retirement products, suitability requirements, and best interest standards, with a commitment to protecting customers and maintaining regulatory compliance.

  • You are a skilled communicator who can effectively engage with financial professionals, customers, and internal partners to gather information, explain decisions, and resolve issues professionally.

Nice to Haves
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5-8 years of experience in suitability review, insurance operations, annuity new business, compliance, risk management, financial services, or related functions.
  • Working knowledge of suitability and best interest regulations, insurance industry standards, and retirement products.
  • FINRA licenses and/or insurance-related certifications are preferred or willingness to obtain as required.
  • Experience reviewing annuity transactions, replacements, exchanges, and transfer activity within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently assess risk, make complex decisions, and exercise sound judgment while operating with a high degree of accuracy and accountability.

Compensation

Salary Range: $32.80 - $54.64/hourly plus eligibility for annual bonus program
