Sun Prairie East High SchoolThis position partners closely with building administration to lead the successful implementation of special education supports and services for students in grades 9 12 and our adult transition program.
Key Responsibilities & Scope- Compliance & Caseload Management: Oversee paperwork compliance and special education legal mandates for approximately 150 students with disabilities.
- Instructional Leadership: Partner with East High School administration to support 13 special education teachers and approximately 10 special education assistants in successfully implementing the Sun Prairie Instructional Framework.
- Adult Transition Services: Collaborate directly with the West High School Coordinator to oversee shared adult transition services, leading a team of 4 teachers and 10 assistants.
- Collaborative Problem Solving: Navigate complex, sensitive situations independently and collaboratively alongside teams of caregivers, teachers, administrators, students, and community providers.
Qualifications & Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate is a self-directed leader who can work with minimal supervision while maintaining strong, empathetic community connections.
Strong candidates will possess:- Proven experience in secondary special education teaching and/or leadership.
- Deep expertise in understanding and applying special education law, with a strong track record of maintaining compliance.
- A deeply rooted commitment to educational equity and inclusive practices.
