Job Summary
We are seeking a Structures Test & Evaluation Instrumentation Engineer to join the Structures and Mechanical Test (STR) capability team. This position will support lab test teams by developing and operating instrumentation, test control, and data acquisition hardware and software, along with electro-mechanical design solutions. The role involves supporting test programs for various divisions, including military aircraft, weapons programs, and legacy programs. This is a first-shift position, though flexibility for various shifts, nights, weekends, and overtime may be required to support program objectives.

Key Responsibilities
• Act as a test control or data acquisition engineering operator during structural and mechanical tests.
• Design test hardware, software, and systems to achieve test requirements.
• Identify required products, systems, components, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Architect, design, develop, and document instrumentation and test control systems.
• Generate electrical schematics using design software such as Microsoft Visio.
• Coordinate control system design, fabrication, integration, modification, setup, and checkout.
• Identify test requirements and determine appropriate test methods.
• Integrate test hardware, software, and systems to fulfill all test requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation system, transducer, and test-related problems.
• Analyze, review, and validate test data to ensure system readiness and data validity.
• Conduct research in test technologies to improve efficiency and capability.
• Interface with project teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or an equivalent qualification.
• 5+ years of experience with PID Control theory, control software, or data acquisition software/equipment.
• 3+ years of experience working in a lab test, flight test, or similar test environment.
• Hands-on experience supporting lab-based testing.
• Experience in aerospace is preferred, with automotive validation and durability testing backgrounds considered as strong alternatives.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Aerospace Engineering.
• 9+ years of related work experience.
• Experience using MTS Aeropro or Moog Integrated Test Suite.
• Experience programming and running hydraulic or mechanical load frames.
• Experience with open and closed loop feedback control systems.
• Experience with hydraulic control systems for static and fatigue testing in a lab environment.
• Experience planning and executing instrumentation activities for test programs.
• Experience with Moog or MTS FlexTest controllers.
• Experience with LabView software and its use in laboratory environments.
• Experience with transducer and sensor physics to make appropriate hardware selections.
• Experience with instrumentation mechanical installation design.
