Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provides independent analysis of technical submittals, including but not limited to, shoring and falsework.
- Reviews change orders, submittals, shop drawings and materials testing, surveying, RFI's, engineering drawings (such as shoring, falsework, post-tension, bridge removal), and prepares professional communications regarding same.
- Performs a wide variety of structure construction engineering, including but not limited to bridges, retaining walls, soundwalls, pump stations and buildings.
- Works in conjunction with technical field inspectors and project team members to assure project goals are being met.
- Executes field inspection, structures related contract administration, change order preparation.
- Administers projects in the absence of RE.
- Manages professional and technical staff and contract administration.
- Monitors and reviews contractors' construction schedules.
- Prepares and files daily construction reports, diaries, & other project documents.
- Verifies acceptability of material incorporated into the project and maintains material and inspection records.
- Assists with recruitment and performance evaluations.
- Primary point of contact with clients and approving agencies.
- Participates in contract claims and general claim avoidance.
- Coordinates with contractors and agencies about different tasks and projects.
Requirements- BS in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
- California registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) required.
- Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driver's record are required.
- 7 + years construction contract management experience related to bridge and/or structures construction projects.
- Working knowledge of CALTRANS methods and procedures and municipal agency projects, as well as document coordination on federally funded projects desired.
OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS
- Is knowledgeable with construction methods and procedures, Caltrans and standard plans and specifications.
- Interacts well with other staff.
- Able to work well with other people, contractors, agency personnel, the public.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient with computer and computer programs such as Word & Excel.
- Proficient with engineering calculations and concepts.
- Able to evaluate project issues and changes
Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.
Work Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.
Benefits- The typical base salary range for this position is $180000 - $230000, annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. This is a salary position paid biweekly.
