Location: LNGC - Kitimat, BC

Position: Project based / Full-Time / Local Candidate Required

Work Schedule: 5 on and 2 off working 8 hours per day

Reporting to: Director, Quality & Senior Project Manager

Hourly wage: $65.00-$75.00 per hour

Job Purpose

The QA/QC Lead is primarily responsible for initiating front end QC planning (Flange Management) and implementation for Turnaround & maintenance-based activities. This role will require on site execution and tracking of progress, inspection, document control and submittals of handover documentation. The role is based in Kitimat, BC, the successful candidate will have a typical schedule of 5 days on and 2 days off at 8hr days, however will need to be flexible and be required to work overtime to meet client requests.

Responsibilities

  • Display a commitment to Waiward's incident-free vision, values, and culture.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and execution of Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), quality field packages, and quality control processes.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of project scope, schedules, specifications, codes, standards, inspection requirements, testing protocols, KPI tracking, and quality documentation requirements.
  • Ensure quality requirements, project specifications, procedures, codes, and jurisdictional requirements are understood, communicated, and effectively implemented.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, training, and guidance to Quality Inspectors, QA/QC Administrators, Material Coordinators, and local personnel to promote quality awareness and compliance with LNG Canada standards.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with client, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable codes, standards, contracts, specifications, client requirements, and regulatory obligations.
  • Conduct quality reviews, audits, and assessments, and implement corrective and preventative actions as required.
  • Identify, document, investigate, and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) through to closure while ensuring rework activities are properly managed and documented.
  • Oversee inspection activities and ensure all quality requirements, hold points, testing requirements, and acceptance criteria are met throughout project execution.
  • Ensure welder qualifications, continuity records, and quality records are maintained and current.
  • Coordinate and review third-party NDE and testing activities in accordance with project requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality turnover systems to ensure progressive compilation, review, and completion of turnover documentation.
  • Support field execution by preparing and reviewing work packages, flange management packages, quality documentation, tags, inspection records, drawings, and reference materials.
  • Coordinate system walkdowns and turnover activities with project management, quality personnel, client representatives, and stakeholders.
  • Support material receiving, fabrication shop visits, audits, and verification activities as required.
  • Maintain effective communication and strong working relationships with project management, craft personnel, client representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely communication of quality findings, concerns, recommendations, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare and review quality reports, KPIs, and internal and external quality performance metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality performance, reduce rework, enhance efficiency, and strengthen project execution.
  • Participate in lessons learned initiatives, continuous improvement activities, and value-improvement programs supporting ongoing maintenance and turnaround objectives.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Quality Inspector supporting multi-disciplinary construction and maintenance activities, including rotating equipment, process piping, vessels, and exchangers.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Certification as a CSA W178.2 Level II or Level III Welding Inspector.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including:
  • CSA W47.1, W59, S16, W178.1, W178.2, and G40.20/21
  • ASME Section VIII, IX, B31.1, and B31.3
  • CWB W47.1 and CSA W59 requirements
  • Valid WHMIS certification and site-required safety certifications, including but not limited to: CSTS-2020, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry & Monitor, Elevated Work Platform (EWP), H₂S Awareness, First Aid, SCBA
  • Successful completion of a pre-access Alcohol and Drug test.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean and current driver's abstract.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to influence, negotiate, and communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to make sound and timely decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.

Working Conditions

  • The incumbent is required to work on a construction site with moderate noise, extreme temperatures and numerous hazards including equipment.
  • The job may require the incumbent to walk stairs, climb ladders, work at heights and in confined spaces. This role will require work outside in inclement weather (slippery surfaces and cold), carrying objects, driving, and being exposed to normal office routines.

Physical Requirements
  • The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: inspections preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal for extended periods of time; and extensive reading.
  • The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, confined space entry and limited lifting.
