Location: LNGC - Kitimat, BC

Position: Project based / Full-Time / Local Candidate Required

Work Schedule: 5 on and 2 off working 8 hours per day

Reporting to: Director, Quality & Senior Project Manager

Hourly wage: $65.00-$75.00 per hour

Job Purpose

The QA/QC Lead is primarily responsible for initiating front end QC planning (Flange Management) and implementation for Turnaround & maintenance-based activities. This role will require on site execution and tracking of progress, inspection, document control and submittals of handover documentation. The role is based in Kitimat, BC, the successful candidate will have a typical schedule of 5 days on and 2 days off at 8hr days, however will need to be flexible and be required to work overtime to meet client requests.

Responsibilities

  • Displays a commitment to Waiward's incident-free vision, values, and culture.
  • Develops a thorough knowledge of the project scope, schedule, inspections, testing, KPI tracking and quality documentation
  • Displays a thorough understanding of Contracts, Specifications, Codes, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Leads the development of ITP's, Quality Field Packages and ensuring all ITP stages are adhered to.
  • Maintains effective communication with project management, client representatives on quality related issues and builds relationships with craft personnel to influence quality culture.
  • Mentors, supervises, trains, and assigns tasks to Quality Inspection personnel.
    • Train and raise quality awareness in local personnel of LNGC Standards
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the Quality Management System, Technical Safety BC Quality Manual, Procedures and Work instructions.
  • Manages implementation and effectiveness of the QMS in compliance with regulatory requirements, keeping current with industry codes and standards and ensures QA/QC tools are functional for their scope to support the needs of our people.
  • Oversees the effectiveness of the Quality System through reviews, audit findings and implements corrective and preventative actions.
  • Documents and reports Non-Conformances when they occur, ensuring re-work is tracked, reported and NCRs are closed in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for completing all QA/QC reporting requirements, and internal / external KPI reports.
  • Ensures Welder Qualifications and continuity logs are maintained and current.
  • Liaises with third party NDE Companies.
  • Reviews and approves all third-party testing as per project requirements.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors QC turnover systems, to ensure progressive compilation of documents.
  • As necessary support the quality program by preparing necessary documents (Work packages / Flange Management Packages and Tags) needed for field execution e.g., reference documents such as equipment manuals, drawings, task checklists, inspection, test plans, etc
  • Coordinates and schedules system walk downs with project management team, quality inspectors and client representatives. As necessary support material receiving, fabrication shop visits and audits.
  • Maintains high levels of communication and trust with client stakeholders and ensures timely communication of findings or feedback.
  • Provides input on continuous improvement of quality program. Participates in lessons learned discussions and brings forward Value improvement initiatives as part of our ongoing Maintenance objectives.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience as a Quality Inspector for multi-disciplinary construction & maintenance activities. (rotating equipment, process piping, vessels and exchangers)
  • 2+ years' experience in a Lead or supervisory role.
  • Certification as a CSA 178.2 Level II or Level III Welding Inspector.
  • ASME Sec VIII, IX, B31.1, B31.3 and CWB W59 CSA W47.1 & CSA W59 Code endorsements.
  • Would be considered an asset to have the following qualification to perform in house welder testing CWB Level II or III with an endorsement to ASME Section IX, or an ABSA certified Weld Examiner.
  • Must have a strong understanding of relevant codes and standards (IE - CSA standards W47.1, W59, S16, W178.1, W178.2, G40.20/21, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1).
  • Must have WHMIS 2026 and hold valid certifications for the work being performed (i.e. - Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry & Monitor, EWP, H2S awareness, First Aid, SCBA ).
  • Must complete a pre-access Alcohol and Drug test prior to accessing site.
  • Class 5 Driver's License and a clear and current driver's abstract are required.
  • Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills that are complemented by effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be clear and concise when presenting information to negotiate or influence others.
  • Tactful and mature demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work with diverse personalities.
  • Ability to make timely and objective decisions, while displaying a strong attention to detail, and maintain a structured and organized filing system.
  • Proficient in MS Office software, specifically MS Office Suite, and Bluebeam.
  • Knowledge of Shell DEP's would be considered an asset.

Working Conditions

The incumbent is required to work on a construction site with moderate noise, extreme temperatures and numerous hazards including equipment.

The job may require the incumbent to walk stairs, climb ladders, work at heights and in confined spaces. This role will require work outside in inclement weather (slippery surfaces and cold), carrying objects, driving, and being exposed to normal office routines.

Works consists of supporting steady state maintenance, operations and turnaround groups so needs to be comfortable with change and ambiguity such that informed decisions are made without undue delay.

Physical Requirements

The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: inspections preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, confined space entry and limited lifting.
