Unit Summary The Heart Investigation Unit serves the Central-South region of Ontario and comprises 4 cardiac catheterization labs and a 32 bed reception/recovery area. The interdisciplinary team comprises cardiologists, critical care nurses, HIU technicians and medical radiation technologists. Interventions include left and right heart catheterizations and interventional procedures such as angioplasty, stent insertion, valvuloplasty and transcutaneous aortic valve implantation.
Position Summary The Structural Heart Coordinator (SHC) develops a comprehensive care plan for patients who are referred to the Structural Heart Program. The Structural Heart Program encompasses the TAVI, LAAC and TEER procedures. The SHC will track all patients referred to this program, arrange for additional diagnostics determine eligibility and ultimately make a plan for procedure The SHC will identify any barriers, to diagnostics and will ensure timely follow up ensuring adherence to recommended wait times. They will serve as a connection between patients and care givers and the structural heart team. They will be responsible for data integrity through the collection of quality metrics and communication of on listing and off listing of structural heart patients.

Qualifications- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists OR current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in Heart Investigation Unit procedural care
- Structural heart trained
- Knowledge of structural heart procedures (TAVI, LAAC, TEER) and underlying medical conditions impacting this community
- Minimum 3-5 years of computer skills (MS Word, Excel, and Power Point)
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience with report writing in EPIC
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience leading quality improvement projects
- Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills
- Excellent relationship building and conflict resolution skills
