Job description - Structural Engineer

Reporting to: Lead Structural Engineer

Location: Columbia

About the Role

This role is focused on the structural design and verification of connection details, frame profiles, and overall structural hot aisle configurations within data center applications. The successful candidate will apply advanced knowledge of structural engineering principles to ensure safe, efficient, and code-compliant solutions. This position requires close coordination with multidisciplinary teams to support the delivery of high-performance infrastructure projects.

What You Will Do

  • Design and verify structural components, including frame profiles and connection details, for data center infrastructure
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, engineering drawings, and documentation to support structural analysis and design decisions
  • Perform structural analysis and simulate seismic loading using tools such as ANSYS, RISA, and IDEA StatiCa
  • Conduct load and stress calculations in accordance with applicable codes and standards for building design
  • Select appropriate construction materials based on structural requirements, durability, and regulatory compliance
  • Provide clear and accurate technical advice to internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with planning and building regulations by preparing and submitting required documentation
  • Liaise with architects, contractors, and other engineering professionals to ensure cohesive project delivery

What You Will Bring

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • A valid Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or equivalent certification
  • Proven experience in the construction industry, with a focus on structural engineering
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software including ANSYS, RISA, and IDEA StatiCa
  • Strong understanding of seismic design principles and simulation methods
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant building codes and industry standards
  • Ability to produce high-quality calculation reports, construction documents, and technical drawings
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
