We are currently seeking a Structural Designer to join the Energy and Resources Design team. The successful candidate would have opportunities to work on a variety of projects within the Energy and Resource sector ranging from studies to detailed engineering and construction support for projects in North America and across the world. With a particular focus on underground and surface mining, material handling, and industrial facilities. This role would provide an opportunity to be part of a diverse team while focusing on technical growth.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • You are expected to understand and work according to the requirements of the Stantec Safety Culture and in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Stantec and its clients.
  • Perform modeling, drafting and structural design tasks for a wide variety of projects.
  • Complete project deliverables on budget and schedule.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, and project teams to produce quality design deliverables with the appropriate level of detail.
  • Support projects involving underground and surface mining infrastructure, shaft and headframe design, material handling, and other heavy industrial facilities.
  • Work with Engineers and Junior Designers on fit-for-purpose designs that meet the client's needs and requests.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to designers as part of their professional development, while taking an active role in your own career development.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects within Stantec's quality control guidelines.
  • Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members.
  • Travel to local project sites as needed.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Demonstrated experience supporting projects within one or more of the following sectors: - Underground or surface mine infrastructure Shaft steel, headframes, and hoisting systems design
  • Heavy industrial processing facilities
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Revit and AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to develop Revit content such as custom families and managing parameters.
  • Knowledge in utilizing and understanding CAD/BIM tools such as Autodesk Recap, Civil 3D, Navisworks, ACC/Forma, Inventor (preferred) and workflows with Reality Capture (point cloud data) and GIS.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong understanding of design concepts, with an emphasis on structural design.
  • A strong sense of teamwork, especially in remote collaborative environments. Desire to lead projects and coach or mentor other team members.

Education and Experience
  • Graduate of Technical or College Course in Design/Drafting, or the ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge received from previous experience in a similar position.
  • 6 to 12 years of experience in engineering consulting or the construction industry.
  • At least 6 years of experience in the industrial consulting industry or an industrial environment.
  • Experience support underground or surface mining projects strongly preferred.

Pay Range:
• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ, VA Areas-$72,200.00 - $104,600.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
