Full Job Description
Purpose:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer at American Modern, the Strategy Office department drives the strategy development and execution process, leading and tracking strategy initiatives, including potential Mergers & Acquisition projects. Furthermore, the department oversees the CEO Office, namely managing the Executive Management Board meetings, acting as a support function for the CEO in preparing for board meetings, strategy presentations, external & internal speaker assignments. This position reports directly to the Head of Strategy, Innovation & Digital, supporting the execution of these initiatives.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Develop business cases or strategic priorities and/r capital expenditures, as well as authorizing strategy white papers to communicate and challenge the company's strategic initiatives. In some cases, provide basic financial analyses supporting or challenging these business cases.
  • Track the status of strategic initiatives and senior leadership action plans.
  • Provide assistance in 'deep dives' into results of products, distribution channels, agents and regions.
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of business meeting agendas, preparing meeting minutes, presentations and other internal communications.
  • Review market trends and new business model reports to assist the Head of Strategy in compiling action plans to utilize for American Modern's strategic advantage.
  • Interact with and persuade cross-company departments and associates in order to compile information and obtain support for our objectives.
  • Assist in the identification and evaluation of M&A targets and related due diligence, including building external relationships and networks to identify targets.
  • Owns the American Modern Change Management (CM) practice and evangelizes the use of CM tools and techniques across the organization. Involves close collaboration with the GSI Change Enablement Center (CEC) to share learnings and align methodology. Is the go-to person at American Modern for all CM related activities.
  • Occasional travel for collaboration activities and conferences/training.


Required Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Strong business writing skills.


Skills / Knowledge / Experience:
  • 4+ years of relevant experience with business-focused initiatives including business case development;
  • Bachelor's degree in Business (Economics, Accounting, Finance or Insurance fields);
  • Ability to interact with and influence across multiple levels of reporting;
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and projects and then take ownership of the project's completion;
  • Strong business and strategic acumen with the ability to work across multiple functions including the international parent company;
  • Ability to tell a story both in words and numbers;
  • Strong attention to detail.


Education, Certifications & Designations:

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business (Economics, Accounting, Finance or insurance fields)

Preferred:
  • CPA, CPCU, CFA
