What we need

The Strategy & Innovation Analyst on the Strategy & Innovation team, part of the Enterprise Strategic Services Division will assist in conducting market research and synthesizing themes, gathering consumer insights, generating ideas and facilitation thereof, developing solutions, and prototyping and piloting innovative solutions and technologies that will create a competitive advantage for BCBSMA. This position reports to a Director of Strategy & Innovation and works in close collaboration with BCBSMA business leaders and industry stakeholders. In alignment with BCBSMA strategic priorities, the analyst will help evaluate current trends and ideas; identify emerging capabilities, solutions and technologies; to support the advancement of a portfolio of strategy and innovation initiatives to market.

This position is eligible for the Flex persona.

Your Day to Day
  • Support engagement with stakeholders in key areas of the business to forge relationships and understand their challenges and strategic goals.
  • Help identify opportunities for innovation by understanding problems, needs, and ideas from the perspective of our business, customers (employers, providers, brokers), and members (consumers).
  • Support the advancement of innovation initiatives through the innovation process as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Assist with project tracking and reporting for active initiatives in the innovation pipeline/portfolio.
  • Assist in exploring vendors and technologies in the market that could provide a solution or component of a solution, and contribute to build, buy, partner recommendations by leveraging BCBSMA and public resources for industry and company research.
  • Draft, with guidance, content to be used in facilitation and in summarizing research (e.g., in the form of agendas, powerpoint deck, or brief memos).
  • Assist strategy and innovation leadership in developing materials and preparing pitches of prioritized ideas to business leaders.

Able to translate data into clear visuals and insights, with direction and guidance, to bring insights to life.
  • Possesses strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to confidently and persuasively communicate findings to diverse audiences, including development of communication documents (powerpoint, memos, or otherwise).
  • Helps to communicate the strategy & innovation mission, goals, objectives, process, and initiatives to audiences both inside and outside of BCBSMA.
  • Collaborates effectively with stakeholders and business partners to drive innovation aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Thrives in complex, ambiguous scenarios requiring creative problem-solving.
  • Is willing to wear multiple hats and take on a variety of roles and responsibilities as part of a lean "start-up-like" innovation team.

What You Bring
  • 2+ years of work experience or a recent graduate with a relevant undergraduate degree. Internship or past work experience in healthcare, technology or consulting is preferred. Interest in and some knowledge of healthcare or health insurance industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with human-centered design and design thinking methodologies
  • Strong analytical (including basic data analysis) and problem-solving skills with an ability to analyze business problems and contribute to strategic solutions.
  • A complete team player who builds strong, effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent written (including graphical), verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A true innovator driven by intellectual curiosity, passionate about creating meaningful impact, and willing to challenge the status quo.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology and iterative project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to approach complex challenges with creative, strategic problem-solving skills.

Salary Range: $78,120.00 - $95,480.00

The job posting range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.

This job is also eligible for variable pay.
